Hi,

Does your SBLive have an option to install dos drivers?  That's
probably all you need.  Dos drivers might be deactivated by default.
I don't have a sblive so I don't know for sure.

Yea, on the SB Live! you need to have the Dos emulation drivers
installed on your system and make sure dos emulation is enabled in
device manager under Creative Miscellaneous Devices. If you install
LW3.0 it doesn't come with the Dos drivers. You need to install the
drivers from the cards original cdrom and then update to LW 3.0 to get
the dos drivers or look for the drivers on the internet as a seperate
download. They can be found. Under C:\Program Files\Creative\SBlive\
there should be a "DOSDrv" sub folder. If that isn't present then he
doesn't have the dos drivers installed. Then comes the problem of the
config.sys and autoexec.bat. SB Live! dos emulation must have
emm386.exe loading in order to work. The IRQ and DMA settings go in
the autoexec.bat and some older dos games don't work on high order
IRQ's. If you can get the SB Live! dos emulation to use IRQ5 then
things will be hunky dory with *all* dos games because that is the SB
16's default IRQ.

Under my Device Manager, there's a Creative Miscellaneous Device
entry(installed by the SBLive setup).  That has SBLive SB emulation.  That
allows games to see the DOS version of the sound card as a SB16.  If a game
won't work with that, make sure you have the drivers loaded in your
autoexec.bat, and boot to DOS.  Hope that helps.

Yep, as I mentioned in earlier in this thread! GC had talked about updating
Stunt Car Racer but I haven't seen anything about this for a while  Shame
because SCR was a classic!

There was one track I could never finish..I "think" it was in the last set
of tracks..probably one with a moving ramp that you had to hit just right to
sail across
to the other side...but I'll never remember exactly...

Oh I loved that game. I didn't play it until after i'd played GP1, so
I can't really credit it with starting me on this sim-racing thing.
But I do think it cemented my ***ion. I loved being able to design
tracks - i came up with some great tracks, some of the best had no
"stunts" at all, just pure race tracks. I tried to recreate some GP
tracks too, with varying degrees of success - the available track
components were a little too limited. I dug out my last remaining
backup copy of stunts a little while back - like all old games, it
seems, it hasn't aged too well. It simply can't compare to todays
sims, and once you've played GPL arcade physics just aren't going to
cut it. But it was a great game at the time, and an update utilising
the latest technology would certainly go on my wish list.

Ahh, they were heady days indeed. When an entire game could be crammed
on a single 3 1/2 inch disk. When every new game meant a few hours
messing with the autoexec.bat and config.sys files and a new boot
disk. When we dreamed about being able to race against other people
over a modem....

Did anyone see this out in a shop yet?

I'm going to buy it, but couldn't find it

Sure do.  I pulled out the floppys recently and fired it up just for fun. It
actually worked quite well (but obviously looked very primitive)
