Maybe the name is wrong... but as I play sims and the physics get better and
we have ff wheels, sure would like to see a stunt game sim style! I remember
playing stunts or whatever it was... jumps, a big loop etc, racing agains
time. With vga it still gave me vertigo.

Nope - you got it right - that was a classic!  My favorite was driving
the indycar and getting the speed to overflow and get stuck at 254mph
or something :)...

Kendt

PS - Wasn't GC planning a stunt racing sim game at some point?

Stunts is the right title... It was from Broderbund. I was working at
Spectrum HoloByte at the time, and our own "Stunt Driver" was in
beta. We released it soon after, though apparently not many people
liked it. :-/

For a bit more "current" stunt driving, see if you can find Interplay's
Whiplash ("Fatal Racing" in Europe). It supports GLIDE acceleration,
though no D3D. It still looks good in software mode though.

GC did do a stunt sim, and I think it was called 'Stunt Car Racer' if my
memory serves me well.  I think it came just after GC's other classic
racer - 'Revs'.  A long time ago now!

I also think I remember some talk of GC updating SCR, but haven't heard
anything about that for a while now.

Take a look at "Stunt GP".

It is a bit similar, although it is RC cars you're driving.
But hey, it's got the loop!

at http://stuntgp.team17.com

There is a demo available.

Oh yeah - And couldn't you design your own track, too?

And I think it had a 4wd Audi and the Lamborghinininininini LM2000 (or whatever
it was called...)

Have a look at StuntGP by Codemasters (I think there's a demo).
It's about RC style cars but exhilerating nontheless.

I loved stunts. Building your own tracks was cool. I had some great ones. I
ran it on my 386 but can't get it to work on my Pentium. Actually I can't
get any dos games to run on a P2 350. Oh well.

Long since abandoned, no longer for sale.  However, it has a
relatively large following.  One of the more popular "abandoned" games.  I've
got a few links to sites with the game as well as add-on tracks, track
building competitions, etc.

Sure I remember Stunts. I had much fun with that game.

It would be very cool if somebody could redo the original "Stunts" with 3D
Acceleration, Force Feedback wheel support, many more cars, LAN & online
play and much more. The track editor is a must, though, maybe include a
weather editor as well (Stunts had only road Conditions of icy, mud and
road, as far as I remember).

:)

Why not?  What's your OS?  I can run DOS games on my 400 system, but I'm
running win98se.  If you're running win2k, then that might be your problem.

Great. You'll see my name in the credits section. :-)  If you still have
it
that is.

The Beta AI was absolutely hilarious at the time. We assigned the
"old lady" AI to the VW bug, as a test, and we drove the Mustang.
With two laps left, we're doing absolutely the fastest lap we can,
then comes this VW bug roaring up behind us!  It was hilarious.

What a perfect timing. Eldred, it sounds like you can help me out. I just
dug through some of my _old_ games that I hadn't touched since about 1993,
and found Civilization 1, F1GP (Crammond's first) and the legendary Indy
500! The problem is, I can't figure out a way to get the sounds working.
Not much of a problem for Civilization, but I really hate to race with
the beeper engine sounds. Can I somehow make the games realize the
existence of an SB Live in a Win95 system?
