I don't get it.  If someone (not naming anyone like Smokkinu & Smokkinu2,
Uh hm)
is breaking all the fastlap, someone has to scream . . . "CHEATING".

You can't tell me that these Guys are cheating, just because the guys are
faster, only means you have your work cut out for you.  Believe it or not,
you cry babies can do the same thing, if you work more on your cars and
lines (and less sucking on your thumbs).

As I see it, these guys are working together as they did in N1.  They were
great driver than, and they are now.  They could make the cars for N1 and
they are doing it again.

Their speeds are not SOO far gone, that it is unbelievable.  I put money
on them spending more time making cars than any of you.

BTW...I don't see anyone screaming about Jure and Dotson....when they have
more records than the Smokkin Team.

In reply to:Pat, GT86 and  Smokkinu2:  I have also raced Fastlap97 and
have ran about 10 to 15 qualifing laps at the various tracks and have
made the top 10 in a few. IT'S ALL IN THE LINE !!  If all 3 members of a
team share this info, then they should all go fast. One point worth
mentioning is that I doubt that Jure has as much help across the big
ocean as we all have here :) We must give the fellow credit for the
times he is turning, also congrads to Pat and we all know the DRMK
Motorsports Team will be fast as they always have been ( 194 at michigan
on N1 !!!). Practice, practice, practice and find a friend to help you
and together you'll both go faster. For now I'm off to practice at
Atlanta so I can get into the 183 or 184 range :)

As we all know, fast laps don't translate to wins. It's not who is the
fastest, it's who slows down the least who wins.

Flawed logic.

If I maintain 170 mph for a full tank lap, after lap. I slow down the
least.

However, we both know 170 ain't gonna cut it.

If I can run 1 mph faster than you with a full tank, but 1/4 mph slower
than
you from 19 down to 0 gallons. I will still probably be able to beat
you.

I would qualify ahead of you, once you catch me, I'd be hard to pass.
So in effect I'd be slowing you down, "wasting" setup tweaking you spent
hours on.

We've heard it a thousand times, "I could catch him, I just couldn't get
around him"

It's situations like this that show what kind of driver/person you are.

Mark Martin:  Wait for the guy to make a mistake.

Jeff Gordon:  Well, ask Rusty.

says...

I'll agree with you on that and add this: Try spending that much time hunting
down prospective "teammates" who are fast  and you'll get the same
results. Wandering around Compuserve yesterday yielded a post by one Hawaiis'
fastest looking for "nice people" to acquire setups from. Guess he ran out
of teams to join.
