THE CONCEPT

To provide a performance verification tool that accurately and fairly allows
for the recording of FastLaps at tracks using the Papyrus "NASCAR" racing
software.  This program allows qualification at one track per session.

The IVGA Series will be run using the QUALIFY MODE only. Any attempt to alter
settings under Options, Driver Info, Practice, Race or Warm-up during a
FASTLAP will automatically disqualify your results.

FASTLAP.EXE OPERATION

The FASTLAP version 1.0 supports the following Papyrus Design Groups NASCAR
racing simulation software:

        NASCAR 1.0 ((((( NOT SUPPORTED))))))
NASCAR 1.20 for VGA low resolution mode - Floppy Disc Version
        NASCAR 1.20
        NASCAR 1.21
NASCAR 1.21-MX1   MATROX MILLENIUM CARD IMPLEMENTAION

IVGA
--------

The IVGA consists of management, administration, technical advisors, alpha/beta

testers, software engineering and official test drivers.  Each Simulation Area
is headed by a Director.  For example, The NASCAR Director organizes BBS
services (CompuServe, AOL, Genie, Etc.) around the world.  At each BBS there
is a NASCAR Commissioner.  If that local NASCAR Commissioner chooses to work
within the IVGA Rules & Regulations for fastlapping or racing than his group
of racers may join.  The IVGA will provide the NASCAR Commissioner with
software and services to support his local group. Important:  the ivga has no
control
or desire to influence how the local bbs  operates, except if their results
will be
uploaded to the ivga, then ivga simply wants everyone to follow the same rules.

This allows the local racers to compete against thousands of racers worldwide.

Your results will be posted on the ivga INTERNET web-page and be included in
The racers almanac.

ELIGIBILITY
-----------
To be eligible to have FastLaps recorded on INTERNET IVGA WEB PAGE, you must
contact the IVGA for a driver number <XXXX>, ITS FREE!!!!

When you will receive an IVGA number, this number will be used when running
IVGA software, such as FASTLAP or RACES, Etc.  Your results and others will be
collected and the 200 fastest drivers per track will be posted on the IVGA WEB
Page.

You can then enter the FASTLAP contest as many times as you like by sending in
your FASTLAP results .RST files.

NASCAR to generate a DRIVERS2.TXT file that is used by the IVGA for
scoring and information.  If you haven't done the above IVGA software may not
work.

THE CARS/TIRES
---------------
Each driver will select PRIOR to entering FASTLAP

CARS

Ford
Chevrolet

IVGA COMMON REALISM VALUES ARE PRESET

The "Realism" settings will be preset by FASTLAP as follows:

Qualifying Laps:        2               NOTE: EVERYONE GETS TWO LAPS
Yellow Flags:           ON              NOTE: PRESET BY FASTLAP
Car Damage:             ON              NOTE: PRESET BY FASTLAP
Temperature:            85 Degrees      NOTE: PRESET BY FASTLAP
Wind:                   0  MPH          NOTE: PRESET BY FASTLAP

CONTROLS MODIFICATIONS

All participants will be free to choose whatever control settings they wish
to change, such as Auto/manual shifting, braking help, joystick or wheel
calibration or whatever suits your style, Again these choices must be made
in NASCAR before you enter FASTLAP as you must not enter the OPTIONS MENU
after starting FASTLAP or your results will be invalidated. A control
calibration performed during a FASTLAP session will invalidate the driver's
results.

RUNNING FASTLAP.EXE
--------------------

The FAST96.exe package program must be first installed in the NASCAR directory.
When you execute FAST96.exe it will generate the following files:

FASTLAP.EXE             The Fastlap Controls Program
FASTLAP.TXT             Rules and Regulations
FASTLAP.DAT             Data Used for Validation.
FASTDATA.DAT            Data Used for Validation

For Example:

<CD NASCAR>

Then enter <FASTLAP <TRACK> [-opt] [-opt] [-opt]>. The program will take any
of the following NASCAR options from the command line <-h -f -j>. You will
only be allowed to qualify at the track you have chosen.

Once you enter FASTLAP mode you cannot qualify and save your results at
another track. You will then be shown an intro. screen and the be asked for
your driver number <XXXX>.  You will also have an option to enter the racing
league you are representing, NASSCAR, SSCRA, STS, NRL, NCAR, ETC.

After confirming your Info, the program will begin an extensive check to
verify your setup is "stock". This check can take more than three minutes on
a 486dx33.

NOTE: Smartdrive significantly slows the verification process. You may want
to be sure you don't have smartdrive loaded if you have a slower computer.

At exit from NASCAR, if you should happen to break your personal record, the
new time will be saved to the record.txt track file. You should see the new
speed the next time you load NASCAR.

DRIVERS MUST NOT DO THE FOLLOWING DURING THE RUNNING
OF FASTLAP OR YOUR RESULTS WILL BE INVALIDATED!!!!!!!!

1).     Drivers must not enter the OPTIONS section of NASCAR.

2).     Drivers must not enter the DRIVERS INFO section of NASCAR so make sure
you have your driver information entered before you launch FASTLAP.

3).     Drivers must not enter a modem connection.

4).     Drivers must not enter Practice, Race or Warm-Up Modes.

5).     Drivers must not calibrate their controller during a FASTLAP attempt.
Results will be rejected by the program.

6).     Program can run in Windows 95 provided you enter the COMMAND PROMPT
mode by ENTERING F8 key during Windows 95 Bootup.

SAVING YOUR RESULTS

For qualifying:

After you qualify and see the SAVE WEEKEND option; select YES.  We need this
information for validation testing.  If you do not save this info, NO RESULTS.

IVGA DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITY
---------------------------
It is the responsibility of the IVGA Director to make available the latest
version of the IVGA rules. via the INTERNET.

After the FASTLAP is in progress, and should there be any rule changes the
IVGA

Director will:

1.      Always have a complete and current set of rules and regulations posted
        on the IVGA INTERNET Node.

2.      Inform all NASCAR Commissioners on various BBS around the world of any
        rule changes.

COMMUNICATIONS
--------------
Communications between the IVGA Staff and the drivers will be solely through
INTERNET Address our through their NASCAR Commissioners.

It is a responsibility of the IVGA Director to make such messages and files
available to all the NASCAR Commissioners. It is also the responsibility of
the NASCAR Commissioners to read and forward to drivers, such files and
messages. If a NASCAR Commissioner does NOT keep up to date with "press
releases," important messages, or text files and updates, then that is no
excuse. I would suggest that ALL NASCAR Commissioners read the NASCAR message
conference on IVGA WEB PAGE for such late breaking news.
