The GPL Racing Guide at High Gear is a MUST read

After reading this awesome guide I completed a 12 lap race at Monza in 13th.
with a best lap of 1.35. OK I know that's not an earth shattering time but
it's the best I've done. I learnt so much from that read. Some of the points
that made a difference for me.
1. Set steering to Full Linear
2. Don't use the engine for braking
3. Listen for the squeal of the tyres and try to stop it.
4. Use all of the track
5. Brake hard at first for a corner then ease the brakes back
6. Squeeze the throttle don't pump it on and off.

Thank you Ricardo.

There's the link for those that missed the post.

Now if someone could tell me how the hell to handle the Parabolica I'd get
another couple of secs a lap at least. Here's how I do it. I dump the
throttle at the white sign board on the left, grab the brakes and then ease
off whilst dropping gears to (hopefully) reach the corner in second and then
try and find the line to start gently accelerating out of it. Where the hell
is the apex of that ***y corner anyway? For some reason that is the
easiest corner approach to lose the car. You seem to start weaving all over
the place after the white sign as you brake for the upcoming corner.

Hi!

Well, the Parabolica is tricky for sure. I learned to drive it by
watching replays of the really fast guys. I don't know exactly, but I
think you have to handle the Parabolica as if it were two corners
directly linked to each other. The first corner is narrow, the second is
wide. This is because the radius of the Parabolica starts very low and
then increases through the whole turn (therefore its name: it's a
parabolic shape). If you think of it as two corners you get also two
apexes - one in the first third and one in the
last third.
Brake hard for the first corner, drop to 2nd gear and aim for the first
apex. After passing the first apex, gear up to 4rd and balance the car
with the throttle. Head for apex #2, still balancing. With reaching apex
#2 open throttle slightly but constantly so that the car slides all the
way through the rest of the turn, giving you maximum speed at the exit.
As a rule of thumb you should be able to gear up into 4th just a couple
of seconds after you left the corner.
If your car feels very lose during braking, there's something wrong with
your setup. Try the standard setups that came with the patch. They are
very easy to drive but still fast.
I hope this helps. Sorry, if my English isn't that good. Remember to
watch replays!

Greetings!

This of course depends GREATLY on individual wheel settings. With a TM
Sprint for example, full linear would be two steps from impossible to
control since the wheel is wildly reactive to even the slightest
motion. I usually tend to go very non-linear to prevent off-track
excursions. Sure, it makes for slower control but keeps me on the
track.

I have T2 remodeled so i have -90 to +90 ( 180 of steering motion )degrees
from lock to lock and i use full linear setting as i found it is the fastest
setting for me. It just takes some time getting used to it. But hey, if they
can drive that thing with joysticks ( and they are very fast ) so can you
with full linear!

I was also having lots of problems getting out of Parabolica, until I left
it in 3rd gear.  I did my best lap, 1:28:33, entering Para in 3rd gear
instead of 2nd.  Made the car easier to control on exit instead of having to
control the rear end trying to move ahead of the front.
