Richard Burns Rally - Rally School time attack VIDEO!

First stage in Finland right now is at 4:12 something. Its not good and
I been trying but those turns are really sharp.. I could make 4:08 easy
but I keep screwing up a few feet before the finish line.

What are your times there?

Now I can make Rally School in 1:18.63 :)

Those Ice maps are a good help for finer gravel handling. Makes you more
prone to slide the car sideways before the corners which is good.

I think these are my best times for Finnish stages:

autiovaara  3:46
kaihuavaara  4:13
kai2  4:21
mustaselka  5:32
mus2  5:30
sikakama  6:12

I played these almost exclusively when I first got RBR. My times for
these stages are better (compared w/ default "record" times) than on
any of the gravel or tarmac stages.

I tried using the paddle shifters for a while but found out that I
liked the stick shift better. Maybe it's not as fast but it's more
fun, one hand on wheel, one on the stick. Also, I never use the
handbrake. That's a disadvantage but using it seems too easy and also
a bit unrealistic since it's just a push button.

Are you using the manual transmission? I don't think you'll ever get a
very good time with the automatic transmission. And how can you do
left-foot breaking with a controller?

:) I am faster than you on Kaihuavaara with the controller. 4:12.63 Hehe

Left foot braking with the controller? If you have the Xbox controller
you just hit the left trigger while holding down the right...

Heh, I wouldn't  brag if I was you. I've probably got about 30 years
on you, and this is the first video game I've played since tetris.

Anyhow, you might be interested in this:

,the RBR ranking. Download some of those replays and see how it's
really done. (But you'll need the PC version of RBR, I think.)

Doesn't matter if it's done by a wheel or a Thumb Driver.  The basic
skills of interpretation and reaction still must be present.  Heck you
could strap me into a full blown***pit and I'd still be just a shade
faster than molasses.

Now if yer talking IMMERSION,  well then,  ain't no contest.  Wheel
blows a thumb pad away.  Especially those nifty neat thumb pads that blow
air on yer palms or buzz.  Wonder what that is for?

Nah, it's a little known fact that the top sim racers are keyboarders.

>Hmmm how?

Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard. Makes all the difference. Also very
realistic. In fact, some WRC teams are about to replace the wheel &
pedals in their rally cars with ergonomic keyboards.
