Oh well, I won't by anymore a UbiSoft product.  It looks like they will ship
the same version, with all the bugs fixed. Geeze it's the same darn
graphics, nothing better !! (look at the Loew's corner screenshot, same
friggin' thing than F1RS).

I hate companies who tell "Well, there is many bugs, we know, so buy
Burnout2 (or TOCA2, or C:PR2, or F1RS2) and it will be fixed".  Are they
laughing at us ? I'm sure everybody will rush to buy it.  Well not me.
Sorry.  It seems only Papyrus care about us anymore <g>

I just hope it's avault who told us that this is F1RS2 for N64, based on
F1RS for the PC (not the F1 game by Ubisoft they made 6months ago for the
N64).

I doubt very much if Ubisoft is going to release F1RS2 and simply fix some
things that are wrong with F1RS.

First off, from my perspective, I have no problems with F1RS.  A lot of the
problems others are having are system specific.  The only gripe that I have
with the current F1RS is its poor multiplay.

So it's like this-- you can't believe something just because you've heard
it from one source, or, for that matter, a couple sources.  Some people
just have it out for some software companies and will say anything about
the company so that others, the real gullibles, turn away from the company.

Think about it.  Does it sound reasonable?  I mean, what am I and hudreds
others like me, who have no problems with the game, going to do?  Is
Ubisoft just going to make us pay for the same exact product?

Come now-- you'd have to be an idiot to believe such stories.

It will be crap! Roll on GP3. The only thing that needs is decent 3d, and in a
recent interview question put to Geoff Crammon 'What has most impressed you
since the GP2 release' or words to that effect he replied 'the new 3d hardware
is quite interesting' or words to that effect.

I doubt it will be crap, since the first F1RS is the best racing sim
available (how's that for an opinion?)

I don't think F1RS will be THAT much different/better than the
original, but I'm looking forward to it.

I've generally had no problems with the actual gameplay, but I am
expecting a new interface (although ,the old one doesn't really bother
me).

I hope they make it take advantage of the Voodoo2.  It would be great
if they increased the polygon count of the trees and cars, as well as
re-doing the city backgrounds (ie. mountains, etc), they've gotta make
that look like the same resolution as the rest of the game.
It would also be fantastic if they've provided support for resolutions
of 800x600 and 1024x768.

Also, longer replays would be great.

I'm willing to purchase it if these improvements/additions were added.

Marc.

GP2 was a really good sim at it's time, although it had the requirements
of the
next century, but to call F1RS ***is...

If he actually said 'quite interesting', he's more of a looney than I
want to
believe. 3D hardware is the biggest thing happening to us gamers in
years!!!

So the questioner may actually have said "What in GP2 impressed the
authorities enough for them to release you?"

So Geoff may have actually replied "It's interesting that my maiden aunt
wears a 36D bra"?

So you feel Ubisoft hasn't been patching F1RS? What is this 1.09 patch
I just downloaded? How come some people complain that Ubisoft released
too many patches for F1RS? What are the crucial bugs you want to get
rid of now? Too bright colors? Lens flare? I heard some people hate
F1RS because of those two "bugs"?

As for Papyrus, they did come out with Nascar 2 after Nascar Racing,
didn't they? And why the heck didn't they ever fix that "all cars are
glued to the track" bug in Nascar 2, HUH??? Or those concrete walls
that aren't there in the real life?

F*ck Papyrus!!!!

ALL IT NEEDS? Sheesh! How about the non-variable weather in F1GP2?
How about the scripted spin outs? How about no power disparities
between different cars and teams? How about the non-realistic car
handling?
They'd better re-write it from scratch, otherwise GP3 will be same
***as F1GP2 all over again. Worse than F1RS anyway. :^)

by Peter Gag » Mon, 11 May 1998 04:00:00

Agreed, it was a major error to leave this out IMO.

Not so sure about this, I have never had any problems with the spin
sin GP2? the spins are no worse than any other sim, if you are quick
you can catch them and correct them.

Not sure what you maen here? GP2 does have differing power levels for
all the cars, but thats what happens in real F1, different cars do
have differing power levels. So whats the complaint? it is supposed to
be a sim after all.

What!!! you are joking right? apart from the GPL demo, GP2 probably
has the *best* car handling of all the sims out there, IMHO of course.
Certainly *one* of the best, and virtually every *serious* racer
acknowledges that. What exactly is it that you think is not realistic
about the cars handling in GP2?

Geoff Crammond has already gone on record to say that he is *not*
starting from scratch for GP3, he will optimise and fine tune the
existing code. For fans of F1GP & F1GP2 (which you are obviously not a
fan) that is a good thing, provided of course that he does also
address the other omissions from GP2.

The existing code is an excellent example of great game coding.
Yes, there are things missing, yes it can be improved, but that does
not detract from the fact that the original code was (in some
areas) way ahead of its time in terms of graphics, the game engine,
and the car physics modelling.

I'm pretty sure there are many features disabled in GP2, that might
be enabled (and fine-tuned) if there is an upcoming GP3.

For those who don't know, many of the disabled GP2 sounds tell a lot
of what was supposed to be in GP2. Even the original manual shows many
features that never made the final cut.

With Voodoo-X and some variable weather, GP3 may be quite good. Other
than making it look a bit more "pretty"(hehe!), that's about all it
really needs.

I hope G. Crammond sticks with the basic GP2 driving-code, although
he might want to add some "minor" tweeking.

I really like the news the game will be available for the N64, too.
Although the analog controls do tend to suck it's a fantastic
machine for 3d games, and the superior hardware coupled with a lean
graphics library (as opposed to having to "run" under windows) could
make for a great experience on that machine.

Roll on, Ubisoft!

What about tyre wear in gp2? Does it depend on your driving style?
If not it would be a great addition to gp3, I'm sure.

Ubisoft has already made on F1 driving game for N64. It was crap.
And even when N64 is not running under Windows, it is rather slow,
as has been proved over and over again by its 20 fps games.
Even Playstation is faster.

Superior hardware? I guess, you never saw a Voodoo1/2 in action?
