Just caught this gem over in alt.humor.best-of-usenet. I remember we
had a discussion about the different forms of posting recently.

Hope you enjoy it, I got a good laugh out of it.

Cheers,

Uwe

You mean, as in:

all Brits have bad teeth and all Yanks are fat? ;)

Sorry, couldn't think of a generalization for Belgians.
Oh wait, they all have little girls in the ba***t?

That was exactly my first thought. You have to be German to appreciate
that sort of humour <g>

Anyone wishing to see what Uwe refers to with his posting should go to
one of the German Linux Newsgroups and post a question, preferrably one
whose answer he could find elsewhere fairly easily - for me it was an
eye opening experience :)

On the flip side Achim, wouldn't it be easier to share the knowledge already
obtained than make someone start from scratch?

I said one whose answer could easily be found elsewhere. Not an answer
you already know ;)

I posted to these newsgroups to obtain help but also to provide help,
and was apalled by some of the replies you get there.

Once I helped a guy who wanted to know which OS starts fastest (I think
it was WinME, Win2k or Linux) and someone else reproached me for telling
the guy what he had wanted to know, saying that the question was the
wrong question and should not have been answered <g>

Woah, quite a thread starter there. For god's sake, don't mention the
war! ;-)
