How do you set the frame rates at the maximum so that it doesn't have to
contatntly look like I am driving into nowhere? I want it to where the
backgrounds are on all the time. I have everything set to On and not Automatic.
No video card, P-166, 48 mb RAM.

Thanks

No video card? Well no wonder you can't see anything!

Seriously though, If you have everything on ON and nothing on
automatic it should work...
Unless N99 has a feature that does it automagically anyway.

If OTOH your talking about the track jumping into view this a
limitation of your system, the more cpu speed you have, the father
down the track will be drawn.

...other than what came stock with the Compaq computer. Sorry, I knew that
someone would correct me.

With NR99 on a P166 I doubt you can run with everything ON.
Turn off grass, asphalt, clouds (keep ON horizon).  Look at your
"Automatic" settings for Max and Min FPS.  Adjust 'em to what you'd be
comfortable with (sorry it's vague - I'm at "work").  You also may
need to turn OFF billboards and grandstand.

It seems that the game engine has a limit; on both my P2 350 overclocked to

Matrox Mill G200 8MB, the track itself still has draw-in at a
distance...frame rates on both are sky-high, though.

You don't have the horsepower man, it's not going to happen.  I've got a P200
with a Voodoo 1 and I don't turn everything on, it doesn't work well when I do.

I have a P200, as well, but replacing my Mystique/Voodoo1 combo with a
Monster Fusion PCI solved all my problems. I'm putting off that CPU upgrade
until the end of the year now, it made such a difference.

I believe that is the nature of the game. Both N1 and N2 had the same thing.

I run the same computer....I leave all on except infield and grass. Those I put
on auto or off. Cars heard ..I put as low as 3 or 4....Cars drawn...I put
somewhere around six to eight and I am able to run with no problem or the
tracks dissapearing like u said.
