rec.autos.simulators

I know I'm not very good at this but I seem to not be able to start without
spinning tires. I have a joystick setup. In an online race everyone around
me flys by at the start where I'm feathering the throttle to get started. I
try to ease down on it but it takes so long that I'm out of the race before
it starts. Any suggestions, comments (not smart as_ ones).

Just stomp on the gas.  Everyone has tire spin from a dead start.

The game removes the smoke from the tires at the start from all of your
opponents and that is why you feel you are the only one spinning.

Again, just smash the throttle down and go....you should be keeping up with
everyone that way.  If you aren't, better mess with your first gear ratio.

I just hold the throttle all the way down, no feathering.

Problem is probably the "feathering" as the second 2 mash on the gas...which is
what you are probably getting cause joystick buttons are "on/off" and it takes
2 clicks to break the tires loose (which is really handy for spinning the car
back the right way after you find yourself spun out facing backwards on the
track)

I do recall in N1 that I could never keep up on standing starts no matter what.

First you need to get a wheel .. even if its a cheap one ... then
drive In car .. so you can use your mirrors ... Third ... Everybody
spins you just don't see it... The main thing is to hold the car
striaght when when starting with NO PACE.. ANd give it full throttle  
.. Last if you have to ... lower your gear for first a little... As in
.. If its 9.60 .. try 9.50 But Everybody spins... And dont let your
car spin sideways .. hold it striaght .. Full throttle .. and you will
be OK
