dont rush.  wait for GP3 or EA F1.  F1RS and MGPS, my personal thaught is it
sucks ass.  Don't rush.  Do with what youve got.  GP2 is the one and only
ultimate F1 Sim.  Thats my personal thaught.  Get something that isnt F1 or
maybe GPL, that uses 3dfx like a charm.

I have just entered the 3dfx world with a Voodoo 2 with 12mb RAM so please
can somebody let me know what the best Formula One simulator/game would be.
I have Grand Prix 2 which is great but you cannot get 3dfx out of it because
of it`s age.
I heard Fomula One 99 was good but I need confirmation.

thanks

If you're feeling nostalgic... Grand Prix Legends. You've never driven
anything like it... except maybe something in real life.

Your right, GP2 is great...but GPL is even better.  You'll discover the
great feeling of 4 wheel drifting like they used to do in the good old days.
Just make sure your CPU is up to the task, ie: lots of power.  And be very
patient.  The learning curve is steep and long, but you'll be so happy when
you'll win your first race, even if its in novice mode.

Modern cars 4-wheel drift too! Theres a great example of this on Duke's 1998
review video, at the Nurburgring, when Michael and Mika we're really going for
it!

Great stuff,

The best driving sim of any genre is Grand Prix Legends, which is 1967
Formula One (Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jack Brabham, et al).  Great
driving model (but difficult) and terrific tracks (including the 14 mile
Nurburgring!).

If you insist on modern F1, get Ubisoft's Monaco Grand Prix (which is
the sequel to their Formula One Racing Simulator).  It's based on the
1998 season, although they didn't have a license from FIA, so the names
of the teams and drivers are fictitious.  However, you can download
carsets here on the web that rectify this situation.

The other F1 games do not have a very good reputation among serious
racing simulator fans.

I would agree with these choices but I would get both. There are elements in
both that the other just can't compete with. Be prepared for a long practice
period for both however as they are a lot harder to master the GP2. MGPRS2
will be the surprise (not to slag GPL at all - it's just that everyone
already knows how hard that is) as it takes ages to get the laptimes down
and it can't be done without using manual gearbox and basically turning all
the aids off. For a while you'll think its terrible until you get the hang
of handling wheelspin and the lightning gear changes.

Does Monaco Grand Prix have better handling (less sensitive) than its
predecessor? I remember playing the demo a while ago which I enjoyed a lot.
But it's not THAT much different to the previous one, and why oh, why oh why
have they kept the title screens and stuff EXACTLY the same as before?!
