Andre I am running 1.27,50s or so ( apart from a 1.27.35 6 days
ago)and I am still trying to be 1mph faster  through Astari(enter a
182mph and down to 180mph through it), still trying to reach 125mph
(119mph I get)before entering 2nd Lesmo, and finally, exiting the
parabolica with me now has become a case of either I do a perfect one
or I might as well visit the red barrier on the left. If I could do 30
laps at 1.27x I'be happy and stop hot lapping (sure...) I am now
working on exiting corners faster, I've spent a long time
concentrating on the perfect line, then another long while trying to
brake as late as possible without locking or loosing control and
keeping it on the line! Now exiting corners a La Ian Lake/Woeger/Hutu
is what I am after. Nunini mentions in his web site that when learning
a circuit it should be Line, Exit Speed, Braking in that order and
he's absolutely right as you guys know. But in my case without
realizing I tend to find a good line first, once I can get some good
speed and keep on it I will work on braking late for that corner and
keeping on the line. Exiting corners has always been the last step for
me as I think is the most difficult part of a corner, a perfect exit.
Also if you set up the car well for Astari and Curva Grande, chances
are it will be a bit of a handful through the Lesmos, no setup will
ever give me a balanced car for every part of the circuit when you're
on the limit, and I.lake's is the best for the Lesmos although not as
fast as the others on the high speed corners, not with me behind the
wheel anyway.
I have started to hot lap on the Ring as well a few weeks ago and
without ever previously giving a serious attempt had a PB of 8.40, but
after only 7 laps last week I hit 8.18 and then a 7.59.89 with the
Lotus. I wasn't too e***d about this time because I feel I can get
to 7.55 with the Lotus. It's such a light car with so much power,
perfect for that circuit provided you can find some smoothness in your
drive. It's definitely the best circuit on a racing sim ever, although
Osring got me hooked on the first lap.
3 days ago I did 100 laps at Monza, 30 at Osring and 15 at the Ring.
At the end I thought I would never play the game again as my long
fingers are still stiff (which doesn't help if you play guitar), as
for the biceps on my arms they'll be the size of Swachz...eger (The
Terminator!) if I carry on using my current FF settings -225 Torque,
225 damping and 0.30000 latency, you can feel every bump on the road
though. and my eyes are constantly red now..... The words, Lesmo, exit
speed... are still going around in my brain....I haven't played for
two days now but my girlfriend no longer complains, poor girl... GPL
side effects I gather.
One thing is for sure, hot lapping is ***ive the more you do it,
and your racing skills are badly affected if you leave it for too
long.
GPL is the only thing installed on my pc now, Q3, UT, Toca2, and even
RC2000 are gone from my hdd, it just there isn't enough time in a day.
It's shocking I still have such an interest in GPL after having
already spent so many hours on it, I guess this can really be called a
simulator as only now, over a year later I feel I am actually driving
these cars properly, amazing piece of software!
Now to end my long post I need help urgently:
How can I have my profile in Wingman Controller to be launched
when I join a race on WinVROC?
I have created a profile that points to the GPLLauch.exe in the
winvroc dir, and I tried a number of other different things to no
avail; It seems to me when an application is launching GPL rather than
the user, Wingman Profiler doesn't know GPL is running and therefore
no profile is applied upon GPL launch. It's a simple problem but I
have failed to get around this one, and as a result I am under
performing in every online race I have, best ever time in Monza was
1.28.45! Plus my starts are compromised as the wheel behaves
differently from what I am used to. Last night I ruined a race for
about 13 guys in Monza, I was in second and for the first time in
months fish-tailed at the start, resulting in a complete carnage, how
embarrassing!  Then I had a few guys giving me grief and telling to
practice on my starts. I guess I would have said the same if not
worse. It was a very an amateur's error, and it knocked my confidence
right down for online races.
Please help if anyone is still reading this far.
Are you using an LWFF Andre?

Cheers.

Mauricio

I upgraded my system (P III 500, 128 MB RAM) from a Voodoo 2 up to a Voodoo
3 3500.
My windows screen-resolution is set to 1024 x 768.

All works fine, but when I start GPL (version 1.2, german) I have to reduce
the resolution to 640 x 480.
If not, GPL freezes with a black screen at the first moment, when it starts.

My gpl is set to 3dfx an also 1024 x 768, and it is working very fine (36
frames all the time).

With the old voodoo 2, this was not necessairy (is this written
correctly???)

When you are changing from VROC in 1024 x 768 to join or hoste a race, you
have not much time, zo change the resolution and if you forget it, you are
out - that's the problem.

Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance

Mauricio,

2 days ago I drove a new pb on Monza, 1:27.81, using Lake's setup.
Funny thing was that I was low on fuel, while exiting the Para my
engine started to sputter. Using GPLDump I saw that if I had a little
bit more fuel left it would have been around 1:27.5, I never thought I
ever could drive those times! Just like you, after more than a year
fanatic racing I finally start to get the feeling.
Someone mentioned me the importance of tire temps,it's all about grip
as Carroll Smith says, and that's oh so true. Every aim of the car
setup should be to get as much grip as possible.

Another thing that really improved my lap times was the use of
GPLAnalyzer. I saw that I drove the wrong line at the Parabolica, and
I practised a lot on chaning my Para technique. I won lots of time
there.

I do have the LWFF, and the profile works fine for me. I made a new
profile for WinVROC, and attached it to GPLLaunch.exe. I really don't
know why this doesn't work for you, I hope someone else can help you
out here.

Best of luck,
Andre

Just a thought...did you remove your old V2 drivers entirely from your
system before installing the V3 drivers?  I've heard that black screen
hangups can happen if this isn't done after upgrading to a V3.  The 3dfx
site has a utility called delv.inf on their site (do a search on the site
for the name) which searches your registry for old V2 entries and removes
them.  I'm sure there are other ways, too.

If you did remove the old drivers and did the standard "go back to VGA
adapter" change before upgrading to V3 drivers, then just ignore my rantings
and nevermind.  :-)

Hope you get it straightened out.  GPL at high resolutions looks great on a
V3.

Thank You very much, it works?? :-))))))))))

I don't know, what was exactly the reason, because I found your tip: delv.inf
and used it, but I found also a new driver for the 3500. The result counts!!!

Thank you,
Rolf
