Hi there

Yes, I tried the driver, but I don't think that it made any difference.
Do you?

I found a driver that increase the frame rate by passing some rendering
to the video card with a S3 chip on it. Did someone use it ?

I don't try it because in the doc. they say that we must have a S3 chip
on a VESA video card and my video card is a PCI...

s3spdup will work on *any* s3 based chip, including the s3dvirge.
This includes PCI video cards.

I use s3spdup with GP2 and it has improved my frame rates greatly.  My
vid speed (gp2log.txt) with an s3d(2mb EDO) and s3spdup almost
doubled to 467.  SVGA with everything but sky, verges and hills runs
very nicely.

On other games, it works well also - I have had improvements on
EF2000, ICR2 and I've heard it will MORE than double the performance
of SCREAMER2 (which I bought today :)  You may find some games
will not run correctly, esp. those which use propriety intro
video formats (NFS and Dest. Derby come to mind).  These games
still run, but the video screen is distorted.

To find s3spdup, do a search for the word on altavista.

I don't know what driver you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure
VESA here means "VESA BIOS extensions", *not* "VESA local bus". The
two things have nothing to do with each other, save that both
standards were introduced by the VESA consortium.
If the driver is s3spdup, I use it with my S3 PCI card with no
problem.

Hi!

have you ever compared the s3spdup with SciTech's Univbe5.1?
Are there any differences with their performances?

Could you also please tell me your setup for s3spdup?
How do you load it? What parametres you use in your command line?

Thanks,

Keke
