P4 Motherboard D850GB - Help please.

Does anyone know why my Voodoo 5 5500 doesn't fit into this motherboard?
It's almost as if the agp slot on the M/B is the wrong way around. The video
card has a cut out but the M/B has a stopper at the other end of the
connector.

Will an Elsa Gladiac 920 fit and if so why?

Thanks in advance.

Andi.

This is a problem with the Voodoo5 (and some older ATI cards, too).  It was
documented in several articles when V5 first came out.  The problem seems
to be the additional cutout needed for AGP Pro-type slots.  All newer cards,
including the Gladiac, will fit.

Best regards,

Loyd Case

Loyd,

Many many thanks, all I need now is for a 920 to arrive! Everyone's out of
stock!

Andi,

The D850GB only supports 1.5V AGP cards.  The AGP socket is keyed (plastic
divider in the socket) to only support 1.5V cards.  On 1.5V AGP cards, the key
notch is closer to the front.  On 3.3V cards, it's closer to the back.
Universal cards, have a notch at both positions.

The V5 didn't have the proper notch in it's connector pins, (or whatever
that thing is called) but the V4 does..
go figure...
