What F1 2002 'aids' and setting should I be running?

Another question regarding F1 2002 - what settings should I be running
in-game for the game to 'feel' right (ie. like the cars responds to my
commands)? I was originally driving with everything OFF (ie. traction
control, steering-help, etc), but I think it feels much better with
traction-control on LOW and stability on HIGH. What settings are you guys
running?

You about have it I think.  Some have limited traction control to low and
don't use stabilty but I would guess that would be individual choice or
league enforced.  Have fun.

(ps..when the new Viper and those other cars in the GTR 2002 mod come out,
TC and Stability may be mandatory...)

I loaded it, but haven't run much.  I turned everything off for a couple recon
laps around Monza...

Traction control set to LOW is a good idea if you're a beginner.  I don't
think that using stability control is a good idea though.

Well I've been playing racing-sims for the last 10 years at least and GPL
since the demo came out ... so I would not think of myself as a
'begginer'. I gennerally frown at ani 'aids' as they I don;t like
anything which takes the 'control' away from me. Though, I do want the
kind of set-up that feels 'realistic' and where I feel that my inputs are
making all the difference - this is what GPL gives me. I did not have
that feeling when I had everything OFF in F1 2002 ... but then maybe I
did not have something else set right.

Still, any suggestions on what to have ON/OFF are apreciated as I'll give
them a go.

Be a man and run with no aids! Once you get the feel down, its 10 times more
fun than with any aids on..

Remember what is 'real' this year in F1:  They have Traction Control,
they have TWO-way telemetry(the engineers can lower or raise engine
performance while racing)  and They have Launch Control, so turning on some
of the aids is not cheating, it's the nature of the sim.  this year at
least.

They also have autoshifting -- but since the real systems are much more
sophisticated, whether the EA version should count as an aid or not is open
for debate... :)

a little traction control (ie. set to low) is a good thing.
everything else off, imho.

would be nice to have auto-upshifting, but that option absolutely
cannot be used, as it disables manual upshifts alltogether.
