Dunno if it's related in any way to the reported GT Interactive/EAI
rift that's threatening to kill Trans Am Racing, but EAI has a new COO
(Chief Operating Officer).

From the EAI Web site (http://www.racesimcentral.net/):

ROBERT M. NIERMAN TO JOIN EAI AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

AMES, Iowa - (May 14, 1999) - Engineering Animation, Inc. (Nasdaq:
EAII) announced today that Robert M. Nierman, executive vice president
and chief operating officer at Structural Dynamics Research
Corporation (Nasdaq: SDRC), will join EAI as chief operating officer
and executive vice president. Nierman is a recognized leader in the
technology industry, with strong skills in product development,
marketing, sales and organizational management. Prior to its
acquisition by SDRC, Nierman was president and CEO of Metaphase
Technology, Inc.

"Bob Nierman has the right combination of operational experience,
product vision and marketing and sales expertise to help EAI continue
to grow rapidly and excel in meeting customer needs," said Matthew
Rizai, EAI chairman and CEO. "Bob's strong record of performance has
earned him high levels of respect within the technology industry and
from customers and investors. We are extremely pleased that he will be
part of the EAI team." All operations of EAI will report to Nierman,
with the exceptions of legal and finance. Nierman will report to EAI
Chairman and CEO Matthew Rizai.

"I am pleased to be joining EAI at such an exciting time in the
company's history," said Nierman. "My goal as chief operating officer
will be to ensure that EAI meets the needs of all of its
constituencies- including customers, employees and shareholders- in
the most effective and productive way possible. I look forward to
working with the EAI team."
