In the May'98 issue of Next Generation you'll find a kick ass preview of
Trans-Am Racing '68-'72. One of the features that has got me going is the
realtime damage modeling, calculated on-the-fly and unique to each crash.
Smoke will spew in different colors depending on the damage(i.e.whitish for
overheating, bluish for burning oil and black for serious problems). All of
those physics we've been missing will be in the game. Damage from hitting
stationary objects will be different than damage from moving objects. The
camera will pan naturally into turns. The publisher will be GT Interactive
and the developers are a bunch of physicists and engineers from a EAI
Interactive(they do a bunch of courtroom animations and simulations, which
include plenty of auto accidents). It won't be out until September'98 and I
haven't been able to find anything else about the game on the net, so I
would pick up a copy of the mag.
