I would like to select different keys for some of my controls,
but GPL will not let me select those keys. Has anyone been
able to hack or modify the file with these values to change
them?

Technically, my shift up/shift down are the + and - keys,
I would like to remap them to something like the A & Z keys.
GPL ignores my input on the controls page when I try and
select them.

Extra credit question -- Is there an Easy way to re-start a
botched race? Currently I have to exit back to the tracks
page, and use a saved practice session to get to the
30 second countdown. I really miss the Shift-R reset that
ICR and N2 has.

I don't know about the keys. But unfortunately there is no save game
feature in GPL, you can shift-r and it will put you on the track with a
fresh car, it will wait if other cars are coming though. At least you'll
get good at starts.

There's a patch on www.grandprix2.com/gpl/ which allows you to use the
GP2 keys.

I saw a similar question a while ago and the answer was o go to
www.grandprix2.com and get a file there. The file I found in the patches
directory said to be a utility that would let you use GP2 keys in GPL.
Having never played GP2, I can't tell you anything more but to
give you the link.

Thank you, I went and got the file, but I have no idea
what the key assignments are, there was no information
in the zip that gave the key assignments.

I don't GP2.

When I used the file, it forced me to recal my joystick
(the one on the PC, thanks for asking) and when I did
my previous default keys were still the ones selected.
I suspect that recal'ing the joystick rewrites the file,
and reassigns the keys to the default ones.

Will continue to work on it and report back.

I would love to see a user-definable utility that allowed
control file editing.
