Hi Steve,

I just liked the fact that you posted "anonymously".  I bet 5 bucks that the
guy will come and flame you with something like "Those Papy guys don't know
how to make this darn game. I can't control those darn trucks".  Hehehe. ;-)
. I can say easily that 99.9% of us are in admiration with the job you did
for SODA.  Just tell him too look at the credits...

If you master SODA, you are ready for real racing...

Hi,
I think SODA is a great game!  The driving model takes a lot of
getting used to!  Even though I'am an aweful driver at SODA, it is
lots of fun, especially hitting those huge jumps and catching tons of
air!  Sure some things could be better, (framerate, well at least it
has a better framerate than MS CPR did my system!, it would also be
nice to be able to race your own tracks in a champoinship serise).
The track designer is really neat (try creating a 0.3 mile track, it's
crazy!), and it would be nice to see a track designer in other Papy
sims in the future.  SODA is defently worth $12,99 IMO!

Hi John,

Just wanted to say that it's nice to see that there are at least a few
people around who actually like their games to be challenging, and
such that you need to hone your driving skills. Funny notion, isn't
it, that a game should be challenging? <wink>

Some of these folks should just stick with a mario kart game or
something if they don't like realistic driving physics and a bit of
challenge.

Thanks for the nice words Fran?ois.

Several experienced real-life former off-road racers have bent over
backwards to praise SODA's physics as being very, very realistic. If
that's not what turns you on, then that's cool. Buy something more
arcadey and unrealistic like MTM, and just say "SODA's physics and/or
control don't appeal to me." There's no need to spew vomit here about
it if it doesn't do it for you. If, however, you like a nice long-term
challenge, realistic driving, dozens of user-created tracks to
download and the ability to easily create your own, and a cool
worldwide internet hotlap tracking application, then I hope you'll
check SODA out for real and give it some time instead of spinning out
in the demo for 3 minutes and concluding that it sucks. It's a great
game. I've been ***ed to it for over a year and a half ;-), and I'm
not tired of it.

I just bought SODA at Computer City for $14.99, the store had quite a
few copies.

Snip

I agree SODA is a GREAT sim, and the recent bashing it took in mag
reviews, especially PC Lamer, were total BS.

Yes, the frame rate is unacceptable for non-Rendition users, but even
in "ugly" mode this game is a blast! Throw in the fun of making your
own courses make this game a bargain!!! I play Quake 2 once and I
don't really feel like playing much more, but SODA will be on my HD
until the next version comes along.

All the reviews take scant notice of the realistic feel of the game
and are bashing it only because of the high system requirements.

Nice job!  SODA is a classic!!!!

MTM has, well, gone the way of CPR!

Got mine Today,

I ran it about 10min thought it was pretty cool ! Gonna try some more soon.
I'm running a 686L200+(=150mgz)  I thought it was workable. I don't know where
the extreem requirements came from.

Funny, I've never noticed that it was all that bad...

I've got a P166MMX w/32Megs and a no-name PCI video card that's getting
kind of flaky, and I get no noticable stutter in 640x480 with all detail
turned on.

Ah well, YMMV

I agree.  I'm only running a 133 with 32 ram, but it seems to run fine with some of the
graphics (sky, etc.) on auto.  I'm sure it would run better on a higher system, but I can't
complain for $12.99.
Plus, when I get time I plan to try to make a 1/4 or 1/2 mile banked oval.  It seems using the
Buggys on a track like this with high horsepower will give us the closest thing to a Sprint Car
sim that we now have.  Too bad someone can't model a Sprint Car look from the Buggys.

marked on the box $12.99.  I told the check out guy that I was
suprised to see this current release priced so low.  He said, 'We
always try to beat the competition's price.'  Is that funny or what?

I called my local Software Etc. ( Owned by Babages) and told them
that I had heard it was a nationwide price... they looked it up  on their
computer and the sales clerk was surprised I was right..!  They immediately
said they were out of stock.....Nevertheless, I sent my sweet wife to the
mall (because I didn't believe them !) and low and behoe they found one

I immediately created  a .60 mile flat oval track and it's a blast !
If anyone has created a  1/2 mile or less High Banked Oval I would like to
exchange tracks !
