Ed I was going to post this same message. I can't imagine what this is going
to be like, but I am just waiting for the dates to be finalized and I will
be there. I would have to think the WoO cars are going to be much more than
15-20 mph faster. With the horsepower to weight ratio those cars have...
well I would think speeds of +30 - 40 mph would not be to hard to reach.
I think they should raise the wall and the catch fence tho'....  Like I said
I'm going to this race.... but I'm not sitting in the first twenty rows...
Think of it like a trip to SeaWorld, but with the chance that Shamu could
end up in your lap.
It will be an event. I would think 50 thousand fans for the Bristol WoO race
would be a conservative number.
Maybe we should plan a RAS meeting at Bristol. I mean Sprints at Bristol
really sounds like something out of a sim racers fantasy.

Packing my bags now.

Wow!  I've never seen the WoO cars run on anything but a flat track. This
should be exciting... Now if ESPN will carry the race it will be dirt track
heaven:)

This makes the second thing exciting in racing for 2000. F1 at Indy now dirt
on 36deg of banking at Bristol.... yeehaaa!!! :)

How are they going to prevent all the earth from sliding down the slope of
the track???

Marc.

They are using AstroDirt, a new dirt rug that can be used for
temporary dirt tracks at paved facilities :)

Personally I think running the open wheeler WOA cars on the high banks
sounds like a serious injury waiting to happen. An appropriate
coliseum setting I guess.

I think they use a gooey clay base.  Just west of Knoxville, TN, is
Atomic Speedway, which looks like it has steeper banking than Bristol,
and is dirt.  Works for them, apparently.

Right about not sitting in the bottom 20 rows - especially in turns 2
and 4.  I live about 15 minutes from the Bristol track (except 2 hours
on race days), and wouldn't miss the WoO race there for the world
(unless business gets in the way, I guess...).

Wonder where they are getting the dirt.  8K cubic yards is a good chunk
of land.  Probably means that US route 11E will have red clay all over
it for a week or two prior to each of those races.  Hope it doesn't
rain.
