I'm considering buying a force-feedback wheel primarely for
arcade-ish driving games like Need for Speed: High Stakes
(but might want to try a more serious driving sim later on).
Which wheel do you recommend and why?
The main three that I'm looking at are:
- Thurstmaster/Guillemot Force Feedback Racing Wheel
- Logitech WingMan Formula Force
- Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel
I have read individual reviews for all three saying good
things about them, just none comparing them to each other.
I was also able to test the first two a few weeks ago.
The both seemed good. Maybe the Logitech one was a bit
sluggish, but it could have been the different setup.
Also, that was my first time using a force-feedback wheel,
so I don't really know what I'm talking about :-)
Are there any others within a reasonable price range
(less than $150/$200) that are much better than those
listed there, that might be better for more serious sims?
Thanks for any input.
Cheers.

So, which game do you think has good force feedback? Any non-***
simulators that do? I'm really looking for an experience more like
NFS HS, and less about driving in circles and deciding what ***
compound I'm going to use for my tires.
Thanks.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just looked at some
reviews and their web site, and it does seem like
a good wheel.
Just a question, do you know how many games support
that shifter? It looks like a really cool idea, it'd
just be a shame if most games ended up not supporting
it.

>>NFS HS has only canned overdone FF that is to the point of annoying
>So, which game do you think has good force feedback?
Viper is not full-blown *** and has difficulty options
you can set.
Well, Viper's not like NFS: HS but it drives real nice.
Also, be -sure- to get NFS: Porsche Unleashed. It may
be exactly what you're looking for.

Also, you may want to make sure the wheel will work with your sound
card. I originally had an Aureal Vortex 8810 and it didn't like that
at all. I had to go and buy an SB Live! to get it going. At least the
sound is great now, though.
As for NFS:HS, I can't get it running on my system so I can't really
say!
