More on GP2 crashes

by Uwe Schuerka » Wed, 02 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Recently I've been doing some more "research" on those mysterious
GP2 crashes. It's quite easy to reproduce them if you produce
a pile-up in the first corner in Brazil. Hit some other car, bump
around a bit or do get into a spin, and boom! gp2 enters the infamous
sound-loop and the only way to get out again is a hardware reset.

I've tried to disable sound because I suspected my el-cheapo sb clone,
but the program still crashes. I did a fresh re-install and only
updated the 97 carset (p97cs28.zip), and it still crashes. So
the problem is definitely not sound nor patch related, or I guess
more people would complain. I have never had the program crash on
me in VGA, so I guess it's definitely an SVGA related problem.

Maybe others have had more success in their search for the crash reason?

Cheers for now,
