N2K2 LAN Question

N2K2 LAN Question

by Rick Boy » Thu, 10 Oct 2002 06:57:51

We have 6 person LAN set up in the ba***t of my brothers house and we race
every Saturday morning and generally have a great time.  The problem is, I'm
significantly quicker than the other 5 participants and tend to run away
with all the races.  I've tried to slow myself down by using inappropriate
gearing and generally crummy setups but this isn't working very well.

Here's my questions:

1)  Is there a way to slow only myself down through any of the ini files or
any other method?

2)  Is the opposite possible, (speed them up but not myself?)  This is a
less desirable option.

3)  Any other suggestions as to how we can even out such a small field?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, we are considering expanding to a 8 station LAN.  If there is anyone
near Highland Twp., MI., (Northwest Oakland County) interested in racing

All you need is a controller.

Thanks,
Rick

If N2k2 was more open or modifyable, you could add sucess weight
penalties, but since papyrus locked up the code pretty tight, that isn't
feasable.

Here's a thought...Papyrus has stated they have dumbed down the
assists...braking help, steering help, so that these aids will not produce
faster lap times than non-aided drivers.  Perhaps you could race with all
the helps turned on...that may slow you down.
EA's F1k1+2 have a plethora of aids that dramatically speed up less
fortunate drivers.  But I don't know how well it would work even with just 6
on a lan.
good luck.

Thanks Dave!

I never thought of driving aids.  Tried them and using traction control and
anti-lock brakes does indeed slow one down appreciably, (steering assist
just feels weird.)

Now if I can just convince these guys that driving aids are going to slow me
down . . .

Thanks again,
Rick
