GPL Install Guide

by Don Chapma » Sat, 27 Feb 1999 04:00:00

For someone new to GPL, the amount of information, setups, add-ons, and
configurations that are available(and sometimes necessary) can be
overwhelming. I am trying to come up with a detailed install guide with
links to some of the best info and files, but I want to get some feedback
from the community as to what are those "must-have" downloads and reading.
Obviously, this has alot to do with personal preference and what you are
wanting to get out of your own GPL experience, but I'm looking for general
consensus. Any feedback would be  greatly appreciated.

Here are some examples of just a start:

Car Sets and Sounds:
1) Nigel Pattison's GPL Season Utility ver 1.02 (Jan 6 1999)
available from 4W-Drift(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

2) Joe Lafrite's GPL 1967 Carset for "GPLSeason" ver 1.4 (Feb 16 1999)
available from 4W-Drift(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

3) Patrick's GPL Sounds (Feb 12 1999)
available from Patrick's F1
Sounds(http://www.racesimcentral.net/~expatjen/gpl.htm)

OR If you prefer

4) Nigel Pattison's Car Sound Utility ver 1.0 (Dec 31 1998)
available from 4W-Drift(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

5) Joe Lafrite (and Arne Martin Hanssen) Carsounds for "GPLSeason" ver 2.0
(Feb 19 1999)
available from 4W-Drift(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

Graphics:
1) Matt Knutsen's 1967 Track and Program Updates
available from The Art of Legends(http://www.racesimcentral.net/~kareknut/simrace1.htm)

Setups:
1) Alison Hine's Murasama and Coventry Race Setups (Dec 5 1998 & Nov 17
1998)
available from Eagle Woman's Grand Prix Legends
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/~alison/gpl/index.htm)

2) Doug Arnao's Setups (Oct 21 1998)
available from Eagle Woman's Grand Prix Legends
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/~alison/gpl/index.htm)

Required Reading:
1) GPL FAQ
2) GPL Online FAQ
3) GPL Hardware FAQ
4) GPL Reader FAQ
5) Steve Smith's Advanced Setup Guide
6) Alison's Setup Tips
all available from Eagle Woman's Grand Prix Legends
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/~alison/gpl/index.htm)

7) VROC New Users Guide (http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

On-Line Files:
1) VROC software
available from VROC: Virtual Racers' Online Connection
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

Again, I'm sure I'm missing some important info or files, and I would love
anyone's opionions and additions.
Thanks in advance.
