Ah ha !.

Check out (if the website still exist) http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Btw, this is an actual inside-helmet sound or an F1 engine, and it IS
realistic. Your just (we are numbers who said like you before) another
person who has the normal way of thinking that in-car view sound MUST be the
same than what the driver hears.

Heck if I strap a micro on the hood of my Volvo 850 T, it ain't really the
same sound as what I'm hearing from inside of the car ;-)

>I just bought F1RS and I think it's pretty decent sim.

Correct.

Again correct :-) However there is a sound editor called F1BNM.EXE
which will allow you to add different wave files. IMHO the sound is fine
in F1RS except for that downshifting sound at high speed. It sucks.
Apparently this is UBIsofts version of a highspeed downshift/flameout
engine sound. www.f1racingsim.com has the editor I mentioned plus
several new sound files. Look for shifts.zip which contains 4 new
downshifting files. FLAM16D.WAV is the best one imho, so use that.
Also, be sure to get the 1998 carsets and the new skyline bitmap
files. These can be inserted into the sim using the F1 RAYS editor.
It really fixes the crappy skyline graphics of Australia and Canada
and others.

I just bought F1RS and I think it's pretty decent sim.
But this awfull engine sound when letting the throttle come
or go, it ruins the whole sim, it's sounds like a Atari 2600 console
game!!!

Is there a way to get a decent engine sound, with a fluid revving
noise like GP2 or NASCAR2 ???

Roger

F1RS-SHITTY SOUND!

No, because of the nature of the way in which Ubisoft have the sound for
the engine set up.
The actual sample, however, is supposed to be how the renault engine
would be heard from on-board the car.....so the "noise" may just be
correct.  The way in which it changes pitch, however, is woeful and
can't really be improved upon.

F1rsrays editor is only for names, engine power and sound settings. The right
editor for skylines, carsets, cockpits, sounds, etc is f1rsedit,by Arturo Braz
,and you can find it on the same site (www.f1racing.com).
