Ayrton Senna died of massive head injuries in San Marino Grand Prix at
Imola. He lost control of his Williams-Renault at approximately 200 mph,
and crashed into the concrete wall at the edge of the track. He never
regained consciousness, and was pronounced dead later at San Marino
Hospital.

Roland Ratzenberger of Simtek-Ford, died during Saturday's qualifying
after another high speed accident.

This was a terrible weekend. Like him or hate him, he was truly a
great driver. What a shame...:(

I'm sorry. You appear to have wondered into the wrong room. alt.social.angst

If you take a look at rec.autos.sports you find out that quite a LOT of
people takes this Senna accident quite seriously. I have never been a true
Senna fan myself, but I agree to saying that he was one of the ultimate
drivers.

Please act a bit more *** and show some hart!

When I saw the race on sunday, I knew that F1 has lost a jewel.

We hope that Senna & Ratzenberger didn't feel much of it.

Tim.

Hey Rich...

I see that you've SLIMED your way over to this group too!
I'ld seriously like to know where you stand, once you're
done shhoting your mouth, pretending that YOU are the one
who cares, and who's different. Why not fill us with your
visdom as to why we stand where we stand?

This doesn't belong on this group, but it is the drive, determination, and
true sportsmanship of people like Ayrton Senna that help us escape the things
that Richard writes about.Sports and games are by nature escapist and when
someone that is at the forefront passes on it reminds us all too well of
everyday problems and occurences.

Mr. Richard, thanks for sharing that with me. Thanks to you, now I know
that people are dying EVERYDAY on our own street! I'm really impressed
with your social awareness! Tomorrow, I'm going to join Peace Corps, and
help those hungry kids down there in Somalia!

Please, Mr. Richard, get a life!!!

Here, Here!

I was never a true Senna fan, and in fact he rather annoyed me with
his arrogance, and lack of patience sometimes on the circuit (running
N.Mansell) off the track a few times hasn't made him too many friends.

However, his skill at driving was beyond reproach.  He was simply unbeatable
in the wet.  His nerve overtaking people at corners, with the rain belting
down made me bow to him.

We have lost one the best F1 drivers in history, and he will be sadly missed.

Track safety needs some close scrutinizing, and it may take a while for the
drivers to adjust to having know driving aids, but it is very sad that it
has taken 2 drivers deaths to wake people up.

Don't trivialise either drivers deaths..

Paul Smith

Richard,

face reality, unless you are from the above mentioned countries or know
someone affected by *** or AIDS the average person really doesn't care a
bit about them.  Whereas F1 has a following of 100's of millions.  Brazil
has declared three days of mourning for A.Senna and his funeral is expected
to be "attended" by millions.  Its harsh but if given the chance to bring
back A.Senna or save a village in Rwanda, I think you would be surprised at
how many people would answer "Bring back Senna"

 Mark.

Here here Bob!  I agree totally!  Ayrton Senna was a very good man.  He did
many great things.  He is a national hero second to Pele in Brazil.   Yes,
Richard  many people die all the time, some of them great people.   Ayrton
new the risks he was taking.   None the less he was a great man and the world
of auto racing will dearly miss him.   Death is death, and there are many
deaths that nothing can be done about.  That does nothing to lessen the loss
of a great man.  In short Richard.  Whats your freekin' point
