You don't necessary need to uninstall DX6 !!!
Just uninstall the latest m3d2 drivers and reinstall the older ones...
It solved the problems for me! :)

Try this web page it worked great for me when I installed DirectX 6
Core on a Win95 machine and killed my frame rate!
