Picture this,
You work on a setup to practice with at Indy all week long in
anticipation of the Brickyard 400. You finally get a dial in that puts
you on the pole with a 171.029 blowin by the ai cars (with a
joystick).
You fire it up for a practice race to test some new graphics settings
for svga framerate (which worked great).
Pace lap goes great, swerve around a bit to warmup the tires, yet
manage to keep it off the grass/wall, and other cars for a change.
You've edged up on pace car a bit anticipating the green, and as the
pace car heads for the pits you start to roll on the power hearing the
snarling pack around you do the same. Everything is looking good, you
have a slight lead on the outside lane as you come up on the pace car.
Then BAMM! The pace car which was heading for pit road and well out of
the groove figures out that it will touch the grass strip on its
present course and pulls a hard right, straightening out slap in the
middle of your lane at about 55mph, 20 feet ahead of you as you are
accelerating through 130mph. (Can you say La'Machine)
This happened to me a couple weeks ago and blew me up into the wall,
collecting about 3-4 cars on the way. Folded up the entire hood and
left me pointing down accross the track in such a state of
shock/outrage that I never let off the gas and shot accross the track
destroying the enging on the inner pit access wall.
