MOMO Racing Force & Pedals

Hi everybody,

I own the black Logitech Momo Racing Force Feedback wheel.  I am pleased
with the wheel and hope to use it for sometime to come.  I am not pleased
with the pedals though.  I have found pedals, such as the BRD Speed 7 and
ECCI 6000, but they are too expensive.  Can anyone recommend a really good
set of pedals that doesn't cost $400.  I am looking for some in the $100
range, seems ridiculous to spend more than that for a weekend hobby.

Thanks,

Shock

the act-labs performance pedals are excellent for the money, about $60

I have the Momo Racing wheel also. Try using the pedals with just socks or
your bare feet. The springs aren't strong enough if you wear shoes, IMO.

The brake spring could still be a little stiffer -- so the pedal never hits
a stop -- but I still prefer them over other pedals I've tried.

If you need a clutch try these:

There are a few pics of the pedal rebuild mentioned but not a lot of notes.
If you want more details drop me an email and I can see what  I can dig up.

There's rebuild info on the MOMO Force pedals but not much on the MOMO
Racing pedals.

Here's some info on repair:

Yes it is a rebuild of the red momo not the black one but the concepts are
the same.
Basically the internals of the original pedals are removed and new pedals
arms created and mounted inside the case and the original pots used. Takes a
bit of building know how but you end up with some great pedals.

If I can get some time I can try and take some more pics to give a better
idea.

The prob w. the CH Pro pedals (which are designed like aircraft pedals) is
that they are hinged at the center, under yer arch, which means that you can
only depress the pedal by pointing your toe, like a ballerina, which I don't
find all that accurate for braking.

I find the TSW pedals are ideal for use w. my (black) MOMO wheel, and even
tho at $125 they're a trifle over yer budget, I believe you'll find them
well worth it:

http://www.thomas-superwheel.com/prods/2pedal.html

They plug right into a USB port (or TSW will wire them directly into your
MOMO wheel for a nominal sum).  The only mechanical work I had to do was
attaching the MOMO pedals plates to the TSW pedal stalks, where they look
extrabodacious.

Another option, just use the non-pro CH pedals which are closer-spaced than
the pro's.  I've been using the same set for five years without problem
one - still have the original pots in 'em.  They're some of the most
accurate, reliable pedals around.  Opinions vary of course, but I think
they're also the most comfortable, with heel cups and the pivot in line with
your ankle (not the center; about 2/3 back toward the heel). The design is
intended for hours of continuous use flying an airplane, so they have to be
comfortable.  With regular pedals, your whole leg moves when you press the
pedals down as you pivot from where your heel rests.  Put your leg out with
your heel on the floor and press down; you'll see what I mean as your entire
leg straightens out.  With the CH's, the movement is the same as if you hold
your leg out in the air and pivot your ankle.  The rest of your leg doesn't
move at all.  If I was an F1 hotshot that's how I'd make them build the
pedals in my car.  Probably have 'em rig up something more spiffy than the
Penn Pro racquetball I use for stiffening the brake, but hey, it works.

SB

PS - the simple square base makes it easy to make a base for them too.  Mine
are on a pair of tapered 2x8 risers, up off the floor and tilted back some
to give a more car-like position.  The risers ***against the wall and
don't move at all, even if I push hard enough to tilt my chair over
backwards.  Don't ask... ;-)

Agree - CH stuff is incredibly well-made and lasts for years.  They are
aviation oriented, but if you can work out the ergonomics (you may fly
planes for hours, but unless you're the Red Baron or Waldo Pepper, most of
yer flying is done w/o much rudder action), they are a pleasure to work
with.

Yep.  I have a set of Pro Pedals from when they were first
released.  Still work great today.  But these don't have a single
axis car mode, which is a problem with some titles.

Waldo Pepper, wow, now there's an oldie but goodie!

AFAIR, the Pro pedals had a little switch in the base to go from single to
dual axis, no?
