Thores post *Re: RM Gran Canaria SSS=1:14:22 - is that good?*
got me thinking. All of the GC SSS times/replays I've seen make
extensive use of the metal guard rails and the outside walls on the
two sweeping 4 lefts. This is quite deliberate and is really the only
way to get the really top times (I've seen everything from 1.07s to
1.13s, all using the rails/walls).
Has any reader done a good *clean* time on this stage?
Define Good :
Well as we have no benchmark, anything will do to start.
Define Clean.
No contact with metal guardrails/stone walls at all, these are
generally the bits at the begining and end of each section.
No contact with the outside *walls* on the 2 sweeping lefts
which are about 1/2 way through each section.
If anyone wants to post their replay (Time Attack, Single lap)
in alts.binaries.simulators.autos, all the better.
A Tip
Most Hot laps, across all stages really, seem to be done in the
Peugeot 205 T16. It appears to have a good mix of power and
handling.
Note, there is much talk on the specific boards about whether
deliberate wall banging is acceptable. Well, if you need the fastest
time, and it gives you that, then fair enough. It still requires some
skill to negotiate the other bits, and you need to know where to hit
the walls for the least negative/most positive effect.
I'm just interested in what can be achieved on a clean run.
If you want to check out some replay examples of the wall banging
I describe, check out the worldrecords section on this site :
