I have 256MB of RAM and a PIII600. When I start windows and have all
programs closed and close Crash Guard, and so on. Memturbo says that I 56%
of my RAM is free. But when windows 98 says that 75% of the resources are
free. The same as on my old PII300 128. And then I tried opening as many
programs as I could and when I had 48MB of RAM free it said I didn't have
enough memory left to open any more internet explorer windows. I alot of
people run windows 98 with less then 64MB of RAM, but on my system windows
98 takes 128MB just for windows to be there. Is that normal? Could it be my
SCSi card or maybe the sound blaster live taking up so much RAM? Or what is
it?

Thanks guys,

Luigi Soddu

yea, disable all the stuff you don't need.
but even better advice would be to do a multiboot with windows 2000 rc2 or
rc1 or beta 3
Use win2k for most of your stuff
then win98 for games...
well considering that this is RAS, maybe most of your stuff -would- be
games...
anyway, i used win2k beta 3 for around 5 months and it never crashed, rock
stable and easy to setup
If you don't want to install a beta OS, then win nt 4 will do, although its
harder to use.
