MOMO: Gas partially on after sleep mode?

by Tim » Sun, 08 Sep 2002 22:54:41

Sorry for the stupid header, but I couldn't think of a better brief
description.
I noticed if I'm playing LFS with my Logi MOMO after the machine has
been in standy, the gas is constantly "on" about 1/3 throttle.
The only way to get it to go away is to restart the computer.

I don't have any other driving sims installed at the moment.
Is this a Logitech thing, an XP thing, or a LFS thing?

First off, rebooting BEFORE playing most sims can be beneficial.
I would think some calibration data is getting saved somewhere.  There is
a clear calibration utility that will fix that, but I think you still have
to reboot to re-install your wheel drivers.

I have a 2 ghz machine running Windows XP. It's very stable and
doesn't slow down, so I've got out of the reboot every session
rigmarole of Windows 98.
I suppose I can get back into reboots if I need to, but I'm not really
into it. LOL.

It could actually be a combination of all 3.  Controllers in general are not good at going into
standby or hibernate etc..., could be an XP driver issue.  It is still adviseable, no matter how
stable the OS may SEEM to be, to reboot b4 playing any gfx intensive 3D games.

Thanks MadDawg. There is at least some comfort in knowing it's not
some wierdo problem specific to my setup.

No I have not. The shut down routine is quicker than crawling under the desk
and getting to the back of the box to unplug the USB cable.

I did this in-sim and the game "lost" the wheel when I plugged it back
in. I never think of it until I'm actually in the game.
I'll try it next time.

Does it to me in Win2000 all the time.
