Just to note that the Apex at http://www.racesimcentral.net/;has a very
interesting interview with Grand Prix Legend designer/lead engineer David
Kaemmer.

It's very interesting, and is a must for any simracing fanatic.

- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> Good race at the Brickyard!
- Official Mentally retarded guy of r.a.s.
- Excuse me for my English (I'm French speaking)
- NROS Nascar sanctioned Guide <NAS-Frank> http://www.racesimcentral.net/

how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world."--

"(14) Being the leader in the motorsports simulation field and taking
into consideration the rapid advancements in 3D cards and processors
what do you visualize the typical racing simulation to be like 5 years
from now?

I think without a doubt the graphics will be approaching
photorealism--higher resolutions, more visual detail in the environments
and cars, greatly enhanced lighting and shadows, variable weather
effects."

Enhanced shadows. . .  That was one thing (not a big one) that I noticed
is missing in GPL.  When one goes into the shadows, I would like to have
seen the lighting on the***pit change.  But I understand the need for
CPU cycles being devoted to other duties.

Please, don't tell us we have to wait 5 years for variable weather. :(

I quite liked the Dynamic Lighting and Specular Highliths in GPL, even if
it's only applied on the cars.  Im probably the only guy that likes the
pastel palette in GPL ;-)

The shadow of the car is as we all know only a streched in/out .mip , but
still, riding at Monaco, they did a great job with the shadows on the track.
Since there is a sun position on the track (for the two graphic 3d options),
Im sure there could had been a way to make the opposite (Dynamic shadows ?).

I just watched Grand Prix yesterday (thanks Dan !) and the Papy artist did
quite a good job (it was those Russians ?) ;)

Let's wait until the era of the Pentium 3ghz for all what he wants ;)

Let's see what GP3 will bring ;)

Well, I'm another! And I accepted still more the term "sepia colour",
what the third(?) liker of GPL art once wrote (or was it you? :) to the
newsgroup... There is a sense of feeling of gone times... ;-)

Let us hope the best. The artistry and reality(?) of gpl will be a real
challenge even to the maker of GP2 (Grammond?).

I know EXACTLY what you mean.  I've said more than once that it feels like
watching an old war movie.  I love it!
