Saw several copies of Viper Racing at the Norfolk, VA COMPUSA this evening
for $12.99.

I found that while it's marked at $12.99 they ring it up at $9.99 at the
cash register!!!!!

I saw this same bargain, and thanks to John Bodin, added a few pre-designed
car setups to have some "instant fun" with this excellent sim!

Frankly, it's physics are second only to GPL and perhaps RC2000 and this is
a game that came out what, 1 or 2 years ago!! TONS OF FUN, if you haven't
purchased this one, go get it!

If any of you Viper Racing newbies need some setups, you can try our
out here (thanks for the plug, Jay!):

Enjoy -- and remember, if you like Viper Racing, you're probably going
to want to check out NFSPU, too (but you're going to have to wait a
while for it to come down to the $9.99 range)!

Shame about the bland tracks.  I just bought it and so far haven't really
gotten into it.

RC2000? Realistic physics?

Oh yes, I forgot, the tracks are steel and the cars' underbellies are magnets
in real life too.

For a minute there I thought you were serious.

Just thought I'd add that Viper is a beautiful showcase for full
screen anti-aliasing (5.22 drivers). I ran it at 1024x768x16-bit
color with the slider set all the way to the right on a GeForce2
GTS/450MHz/128MB RAM PC. It was averaging 40 FPS.  Turn it down
a notch to 800x600 and it's hitting 60. The game is gorgeous and
it's still just as fun to drive as it was the day it was
released. It really is the second best sim physics-wise to GPL.

I'm even more e***d for NASCAR Heat knowing that Monster Games
did such a great job with Viper. It could be a real shootout for
top NASCAR sim this Fall despite Papyrus FINALLY including the
GPL physics in NASCAR 4. Don't discount Heat... MGI may be
making the better game.

Try it online, its a lot of fun.  You'll find people racing at the
Yahoo club at http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/viperracingclub every night
around 9-10 pm EST.  And you'll find lots and lots of  cool replays
taken from internet racing on my little web page at

Hey, he could be mistaking 'great physics' with 'great handling'. RC2K
really does handle well, even if the haybales are... hmm... a bit solid....
