RASCAR <sigh>

It's amazing that something that is 90% good can be turned into somehting
negative by a few.

We just had three excellent races in a row. Coke is a track that most people
think is a disaster waiting to happen, yet we had one of our best races
there yesterday. Can't believe any complaints about the overall RASCAR set
up came out of this one. Somehow, the thread concerning it degenerates to
the point that Eldred is now frustrated enough that he is saying we are
going to take a break from the races, have an invite list, and a rule book.

WTF?

It seems to me that only a handful of people are doing the majority of the
complaining about the quality of the races and whether or not steps need to
be taken to fix them. I got screwed twice in yesterday's race but I'm still
not angry at anyone or wanting any drastic changes.

This isn't a league yet the races overall have been pretty damn good despite
what a few want to say (and some who don't even participate), and if we
could simply find a way to encourage more practicing, then that would be the
best way to make the quality of the racing go up even higher. Rule changes
and stopping racing won't do much. I say that because I see even the most
experienced and serious sim drivers making normal mistakes. Very little to
do with rules IMO. Connection problems cause more yellows than poor rule
choices actually.

I haven't been racing either recently so I say this as purely informational,
but I've asked around in a few leagues which have strict rules regarding
causing yellows, and I'd dare say their yellow figures aren't much different
from RASCAR's.

AAMOF, I joined a league which had been recommended to me for its strict and
strictly enforced rules, and was surprised to see how many yellows they have
on ovals despite these rules.

I guess it's really all down to personal maturity. Drive within your limits
and focus on finishing.

I agree.

In the last two races we've had 5 and 7 yellows. A number of them were
caused by warp. That's pretty damn good considering the tracks (Texas and
Coke). People are talking themselves into an emotional state for some reason
and are getting close to ruining something pretty good IMO.

Humans have proven themselves very good at that though, right? :-)

I agree with david. Dont try to fix something that is not broken. Lets
finish out the season just like we go started.

We just need to disregard the post/thread that started this whole mess and
go racing.

See you at the Track on Saturday!

People are talking themselves into an emotional state for some reason
and are getting close to ruining something pretty good IMO
-------------------------------------------

I've decide to stay out of any discussion. I'm just going to show up and
race. I try to race clean and not hold anyone up. If I'm warping, like last
race I leave.
I race in RASCAR for fun.

I'm going to show up too. If the race is canceled, we can try to make
alternative plans to keep it going with another server. I understand if
Eldred is frustrated and wants to take a break. Guys have apparently gotten
to him with their complaining. He's also having problems at home so I have
no problem with whatever he wants to do.

I just bought a new video card (may be here by Sat.) in my neverending quest
to stop these damn freezes, which brings my N2002 total to about $400. Yea.
:-( I plan on putting all this hardware I've been paying for lately to work.
If some other guys don't want to do the RASCAR races this Sat. and in
following weekends then they don't have to. The rest of us can still race
without them. Jason's server is still online, or perhaps we can find another
until Eldred gets back. Guess we'll just wait and see for now.

Well, if the RASCAR server isn't up, I'll meet everyone in the RAS practice
server.  Not sure how many people it can handle, or how it sets up races,
but I'll be on one or the other.

Leave all this nonsense behind.  See you there!

I've been told that MSI 4200's generally have 3.6ns RAM, meaning they can be
overclocked to almost 4600 levels :)

I'm in a similar situation, my gf is having my old geforce2 mx.  It's done a
nice job over the last couple of years though.  I can push 50FPS in N2k2 ;)

|Cool. I just ordered one for 130 including VAT + delivery from eBuyer. MSI
|too, so should definitely overclock to almost 4600 levels thanks to the
|Hynix 3.6ns memory.

It's just something I read on another group... But I'll be testing it when I
get my MSI 4200 later this week.
