Hello all drag racing fanatics,
I am the founder of SHRA, (Simulated Hot Rod Associtation) www.shra.com ,
that uses Burnout: Championship Drag Racing for our online competitions.
There are already over 500 members in SHRA and though most are from US,
there are more than a few from oversea's. I was amazed when I got my first
member from Canada, Germany, Australia, Sweden, and other countries.
The SHRA is only about 6-8 weeks old right now, and has a huge following for
such a small time period. SHRA is expected to have a 1000-2000 people by the
time we start our first online season. And by the time we end our first
season, we will most likely have anywhere between 5000-10,000 members. Yes
these are big numbers, but look at what we have backing us so far, after
only 8 weeks:
The SHRA has grown so rapidly over the past month or so with Bethesda
Softworks giving 100% support as well as MPlayer. Hot Rod magazine, and
possibly 2 other national magazines, have plans to do an article on SHRA in
the near future. There has already been talk about a small TV spot with a
SHRA driver and a NHRA driver racing on the computers. The June issue of
PCGamer acknowledged the presence of SHRA as the official Burnout racing
league, and Hot Rod Magazine also plans to publish all the SHRA standings in
their very popular magazine reaching over 700,000 US subscribers and 15,000
Canadian subscribers on a monthly basis. As well as the huge National
coverage, there are the web pages devoted to SHRA and the SHRA community
that have more than 250,000 html hits per month and will continue to grow
along with the SHRA. The Internet exposure is NOT including all the
fantastic Sim news sites that are standing behind SHRA and ready to post
news about SHRA and it's sponsors. MPlayer, over 500,000 users strong, and
Bethesda Softworks are also going to be posting SHRA news through their
services as well. As of right now, only 4% of all Burnout:Championship Drag
racing software buyers are members. We expect to see the other 96% joining
very soon, and the software has not even reached overseas yet. In a couple
weeks, Walmart will have Burnout:Championship Drag racing in stock and there
will be a huge rush of new SHRA members at that time.
The SHRA will be, and have already been, giving out great prizes. Our most
recent was a contest on the quickest Pro Stock setup where the winner was
given a Thrustmaster NASPRO steering wheel and a free MPlayer PLUS account.
There were also some great prizes for the 2nd and 3rd fastest drivers.
SHRA dirvers do already meet every day and night on the Kali "Where to race"
server and we have even had one competition and have another scheduled for
June 7th.
All in all, SHRA will be needing a great service to host our 54+ weekly
races when the SHRA season kicks off. Latency is always an issue so Don
Wilshe and I are seeking Kali servers across the nation and World to support
SHRA and supply a multiplayer service to host SHRA.
