N99 Won't Run

I received my x-mas present a little early :).  The game won't run
though.  It loads the beginning movie ok but when it tries to go into
the game I receive "audio system begin failed".  I tried to uninstall
and reinstall and it still won't go.  I'm running a PII-350 with an
Ensoniq PCI sound card.  I updated my drivers last night and it didn't
help.  Any ideas??  Also, to run the 3DFX version do I have to use a
graphics accelerator?  I have an STB 128 3D card.

This is what dbug tells me happens when I try to load the game.

NASCAR 99 Begin at Thu Dec 10 01:13:22 PM

Consider also a bad CD disc, sounds like corrupt install routine.

: you have some shitty components in your computer
: the STB 128 is horrible
: the Ensoniq PCI 64 is too.
: believe me, ive owned them.
: get a TNT or voodoo 2 and a  SB AWE 64
: also in order to run the 3dfx version you must have a voodoo 2
: or you will get all those errors.

    Voodoo 1 works fine on my Canopus Pure3D 1 6MB and PureData Arcade/FX V1
4MB.
