There must have been a lot of folks out looking for the ICR add-ons
over the weekend. The firest few places I called the already had it
in had already sold out. The last one had the Course add-on but not
the Indianapolis add-on.
For the most part I'm impressed. Cleveland is a real bear to get
around. I'll be interested to see the in-car camera footage this
year to see if the views are accurate. I know the place is table-top
flat but visibility is a real problem on this one.
At last I can lap MidOhio with the big boys! Well, okay, well adrift
of the big boys for now. I have now realistically simulated every
spin and shunt I've ever seen at MidOhio! :) Most of the course is
remarkably accurate but one thing that puzzles me is the first turn
into the esses at the end of the back-straight. I don't know if it
just doesn't look right because I've never seen it from *on* the track
or if it just isn't modeled correctly. There is a very slight
downhill slope coming in which is correct, but the actual turn is
slightly banked and sweeps into a downhill segment before heading
back up the hill to the next apex.
One thing I did notice about these new tracks was that the overhead
view art for the menu isn't quite as nice. MidOhio seems to be the
worst of the lot.
The film editor looks like a real pain. Better than nothing, I guess,
but a lot of careful note taking and typing will be needed to do much
t***. Still, you wouldn't want all that extra overhead in the
program taking up precious memory!
I would be interested in hearing more about how the paint editor works.
I assume this modifies the single large data file that contains the car
images? Is there a way to import and export paint files so that they
can be shared?
