I know it's old news to most of you, but I'm sure that there are several
here (probably mostly in the US) who have yet to experience the wonderful
SCGT.  It's not GPL, but I'm having more fun with SCGT than any sim I've
tried since GPL.  If you don't have it, get it, then get the addons that
turn it into something that turn it into a sim that has about the best
racing "feel" of anything I've yet found--and I've found a lot. You won't
regret it.  (Sorry, gush over.)

And Nos--thanks for providing the posts that convinced me to give this one a
try.  I'm eternally grateful.  :-)

BTW, F12K is growing on me more and more, too--but something's GOT to be
done about those race starts, both framerate and AI-wise.

Your welcome, some people think it's a bit on the arcade side, but I
find it more interesting than racing ovals in Nascar myself. :-)

I was told it's because I'm a poor F1 driver and keep colliding into
the AI and not them into me. :-)

We've got James Wohlever's sp3.0 and the 3.1 update at that site.
it is a slow dload with it's own file transfer software...sorry, but it
was free and allowed the 125 meg file size.

also track down the v1.551 patch(official patch)
Revved's or someone else's sound pak
Advanced Options Editor
Alms Patch
All Dash version #2
If you have a hot system, the new cars are cool too..but they add a
real load.
Audi Le Mans cars, BMW LMR's, Chrysler Oreca Reynard, Caddilac Le Mans
Corvette C5(gt2 category) the latest Vipers(gt2) There's a new Lola
Judd, older but still good Momo Ferrari's.
remember when you unzip the cars, the bmp, mas and veh files go into
the patch folder, the .wav files go into the sounds\22hz16bit folder

What does excatly do the 133 meg patch ? What changes has the game  after ?

Dave Henri

SCGT Provides Some Serious Fun! (Thanks, Nos)

by Dave Henri » Thu, 01 Jun 2000 04:00:00

First off the gtx category is replaced by American Trans Am cars.
(Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes V-8 rear drive)
The Gtq category is replaced by Australian V8 Touring cars
(Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon[taurus] V8 rear drive)
Then 155 cars are added including the above and a ton of real world
Porches and McClarens.
Some frame rate issues are addressed in the smaller sp3.1 update.
At least one track has a bug in scoring during a career.  This is
fixed.  Visual Damage is enabled.(nothing fancy tho) There are more but
I don't have the readme file to give you all the details.

Dave, one minor correction: the Australian Ford Falcon has no relation to
the US Taurus. It is an Aussie car through and through (though I'm no lover
of Fords).

Ok Peter, I'll take your word for it...
They just "Looked" like our Taurus...so I jumped to a conclusion.  Like
our Contour is a Mondeo in England.
oh well.

Just a bit of useless info, and I could be wrong:

If you saw the original Mad Max, I believe his black "Interceptor" was an
Australian Ford Falcon... I saw one on the streets here in the US once. Nice,
nice, nice.
