I just bought this cool sim today and was just wondering a few things.

Firstly (and most importantly) I am running with an AWE64 and whenever I
am playing (ie the engine is going) I hear a sort of popping sound that
is not the windsheild wipers. :-)  Is this normal for a rally car, or do
I have problems?

Also, do the setups affect the car similar to N2?  Ie Softer suspension
= more grip but less response time etc??????  I would think so.

Finally, why does the Proton Wira have a N classification, and why can't
you set the gear ratios or brake balance?????

Oh, and are there any websites out there with some tips or utils??????

Thx.

If it's the popping sound I'm thinking of then it's the noise of the car
when driving over gravel, i.e. stones hitting the underneath etc or it's
just exhaust backfire (see if the noise is still there when driving on the
tarmac. If it's a definate sound card sound then I'm sorry but I am not
aware of it.
I'm really just having a guess and suggesting a few reasons.

Well, I went to digital sportspage to read their review and the noise is
mentioned in there, so I guess it is a fault in the game, or like they said,
the sound of the car5 hitting "potholes". :-)

It's supposed to be the sound of rocks hitting the underside of the
car. Annoying, isn't it?

It is a simulation of the sound of turbo back pressure  "popping", though it
is not a very good one.  Check out this site for lots of info:

It is the turbo waistgate or popoff valve

This is the sound of the turbo valve, and it's normal.

Yes, the same basic rules apply to the setups.

'N' is a class of car and competition. I'm not positive on this one, but
I believe that the N class doesn't certain modifications to the car.

The only informational site remaining is Nick Jensen's FAQ at

        http://www.liv.ac.uk./~neilj/rallyfaq.htm

There a couple of competitions out there, including one on my own
site, listed below. Hope this helps!
