I'm useing Corel Photo Paint 5.0 to edit car jams and***pits, but it
seems to mess with the pallette and everything in the game is in a
rainbow of wild colors. Does anyone know how to get Corel to work with
GP2 or can you recommend a good shareware/freeware editor.

I experienced exactly the same and have not found a way around it. I know from
others that Paint Shop Pro (found on most good shareware CD-ROMs and probably
somewhere on the Net also)handles things OK. If only I had room left on my
HD.....

Have fun designing

I tried for ages like you to get Corel to work and as you say it keeps
changing the palette. So in desperation I downloaded Paintshop Pro
(shareware) and it worked like a dream first time, no problems.

...snip...

I use NeoPaint with resolution set to 1024x768x256 colours or
640x480x256 colours (shareware, NeoSoft) with great success ... it has
an option that loads the palette from the image for you to work with.
I would be surprised if your software doesn't have this option
somewhere ("Do not load default pallette" or similar).

I used Neopaint. It worked just fine without messing up the colors.
