mpgrs2 - How to get telemetry?

The manual says, "It's accessible via the Garage icon after a minimum of
one race lap."

Huh?

During the race, there is no garage icon.  I've pored over the interface
section of the manual and don't see any mention of such a beast.

If I quit the race, choose to start a new race, that garage icon doesn't
have a telemetry selection.  Besides, what would it be displaying?  Does
it go against saved replays?

I'm incredibly frustrated with this game so far.  I've driven f1gp and
gp2 enough to know about consistency.  I can't seem to get any
consistency in mgprs2.  One lap, I hit the brake just before the 100
meter sign and I slow to 2nd gear speed WAY too early.  The next lap, I
hit the brake at exactly the same spot and I overshoot the turn
completely.  Was my speed that different?  Something else?

Maybe I'm just out of practice.  I sure would like to look at telemetry
and compare the laps!  It would probably tell me something!  Grr.

well, during a race it's probably too late for checking your telemetry
& setup don't you think ;). Try running a few laps in test sessions
and select the round button that looks like : |~ , it's just right to
the garage button.

Okay, now I've found it.  At least during Practice sessions.  When I go
back to the pits I get a garage selection and the telemetry button is
there.  Sure wish I could save the telemetry from various laps.

When I tried a Testing session it never let me into the pits.  So I
couldn't choose Garage.

I had read how poor the f1rs/mgprs2 interface is.  It's much worse than
GP2, which I rate as mediocre at best.
