Is alt.binaries.simulators.autos still in existance? My news server now
says there is no such group. Oh well never usually anything in there but
spam anyway.

Yes it is still around. You might ask your ISP to pick it up. They may
have been trying to save disk space and may have dumped some
alt.binaries groups. And you are right there isn't much there, but
that's partially because most of the posted binaries are put in this
groups instead of the proper group of alt.binaries.simulators.autos
