Last night (10pm CET) our passworded GPVL F2 race was invaded by a guy
posing as George Smiley, driving an FV (we force the Brabham marque, so no
idea what his preferred mount is). Seeing as we were sort of expecting a
"fun" entry by a couple league members gathered to visit the Goodwood
Revival Meeting, we didn't eject this gatecrasher (George Smiley is also an
ex-league member). This person proceded to successfully involve two drivers
in an accident before being flipped and forced to retire (we race shortened
GPs). He then watched most of the remainder of the race... posting smileys
to chat when people made mistakes.
Though the split between the GPVL and George Smiley was not exactly
amicable, the driving, the connection and, in a way, the wrecking was of a
standard far below that what could be expected of GS, so we're pretty sure
this was an imposter. I also think "the real George" would never stoop this
low.
We are now trying to exclude the possibility of this being an insider, so my
questions to the group are:
- Is this George Smiley impersonator a known wrecker?
- Does the MO sound familiar?
- Have pasworded races been invaded before?
Thank you for your time,
Jan Verschueren
