: Yeah but how long did it take you to burn your tires up. I bet you didnt
: get a full run on fuel in before they ran out.
What he means is he used the 'old' version of Atlanta. The first version.
The LP files have since been updated to add speed to the AI, but the human
driver suffers a bit in the 'second' version of Atlanta.
I too have run 247's, but only on the 'first' version of Atlanta. On the
'second' version I am only at 238.8mph.
The trick to Atlanta is to run the white line around the corners. If your
car drifts up a little bit, it could mean a big difference in your lap
times.
When I go out in Qualifying, the car warms up with the following lap
speeds (using F1 display to read speeds):
2) 236.xxx (green flag)
3) 238.xxx (white flag)
4) 238.xxx (checkered flag)
I'm flat out on that 236, but the tires aren't warm enough to allow me to
hug the bottom of the turns. Once I can run the bottom the laps go up in
speed, even though I'm flat out for all laps. If the car drifts up the
track or I turn in too late, then I'm only in the 237 range.
The keys to Atlanta -> a nuetral car, stay low and go fast.
