besides the upcoming nascar 4 which does look rather nice, its
disappointing to see d3d emulation only in games like GP3 and F1-2000.

apparently on the v5500 gp3 is approaching nice, shame about support
for voodoo 3 and 2. these companies need still to look back to grand
prix legends, to see its possible to use great gfx on 3dfx.

40 fps on 1280*1024 on v3000 with an old k6-2 400..

listening crammond/ea ???

what for? the performance loss of the mapping from d3d to glide should
be minimal.

not really on about performance as such, im on about the way the gfx
seem to look like they're in s/w rendering mode

People have always commented that D3D looked messier than Glide, and in the
games which use both it would seem to be true, like Nascar 3, GPL and GP
500.  I've seen plenty of great looking games done in d3d though, like
System Shock 2, ok a different type of game, but it shows what can be
acheived with d3d.
Since the next 3dfx cards won't have Glide support (or so i've read) then
Glide is definitely on it's way out.

that's just gp3 - looks like coarse grained sw with every card ...
but what feature do you miss for d3d that is available for glide? when I
still had V2-SLI, I could not find a difference between d3d and native
glide in the graphics quality ...

Why spend the time writing for one brand of card when you can manage all with
D3D or opengl?

RC2000 is D3D only, and moat people would agree it has the best graphics in
any racing sim.

Glide is losing its hold on  the graphics world. the fact the F12000 and GP3
are moving away from it is cuz its not top dog anymore. In fact if you read
reviews of the V5500 its performance is only as good as 1st generation
GeForce cards. With faster Geforce 2 cards selling for same price as V5500
why waste your money on. I myself just upgraded from a V3 2000 to a Geforce
card and can't believe the performance and quality boost. So why would new
games bother with Glide when most new cards support D3D and do it well.

Definitely agree with you on that one.

Count me in as a moat person. RC2000 is proof that a D3D game can look
stunning on a Voodoo 2 card.
