ARCA is not a mod.  It's a standalone sim, but like the SimBin stuff
it is based on the ISI code.  I think it's going to be the best stock
car simulation released to date.

Hope so, but I enjoy rFactor and GTR2 for now. They are good racing
sims.

I've got demo but isn't that purely an online game? I like offline
racing sims better.

One thing I leanrt about Starforce. Don't isntall it from CDRW or DVRW
drives. If you install it from a plain jane cheap cd or DVD drive it
should not give you any issues. I suspect Starforce of destroying two
of my recordable drives. Both developed the exact same issue not long
after installing a game with Starforce. Could be coincidence but I
don't think so and I can't prove it one or another though.

I have Toca2 but can't even play it anyway because something changed
in directx that causes the game to freeze whenever I try to calibrate
my MS Wheel. I've been through all the possible fixes and contacted
their support and it just won't work. I do have Vista now so may try
it on there but like you say, I'm not missing much anyway. I just like
to be able to use products I paid good money for.

Thanks for the heads up.  Makes sense to me that it would destroy
recordable drives (which every computer must come with these days).  I
am not going to swap a drive just to install this game.  I am going to
throw it away.

I found a couple web sites that list what games come out with
StarForce attached and will use their lists before purchasing any new
software.

Thanks again!

At least sell it on ebay instead of throwing it away!

No LFS is offline too. The AI is quite good.

You can have two optical drives in your PC. That's what I do. The
Liteon DVD dirve is for ***, movies etc. and the Samsung recordable
is purely for recording to. Saves wear and tear that way too. A plain
DVD drive is dirt cheap.

Good, haven't delved into the demo much yet but will play it some more
and then buy the game if I really like it. Thanks.

Say again? The AI is virtually useless at this point. They were AI
programmed back in the S1 days and they know not how to utilize the
advances since S2.

You could try to let them learn a track and passing if they could pit
and refuel, but they cannot do that. Plus they don't know tire
temperatures and shred tires. Those are the two biggies that I can think
of at the moment.

The developer has said that AI is next on the list of things to work on.

I read that the PC version has StarForce.  I guess they are one of the few
that haven't learned.  That x's it off my list right off the bat.

Thanks, Pat. Somehow I never liked the ISI code, but who knows...

I don't do eBay, never been there, never will.  Besides - I'd never
pass on Starforce to anyone! :-)
