Okay you GPL Engine lovers explain to me what exactly are you talking
about when you say "GPL engine"?  Do you mean graphics, sophistication
of game play, or something else?  I will admit that my knowledge of
these issues is limited.  I was at a computer show and saw GPL Legends
on sale for $20.  I bought it and tried it out and I thought it was a
b---- to drive.  I'm not saying I didn't like it but it was difficult to
control.  I looked at the graphics on it and it was pretty good but I
was disappointed somewhat.  The build up of the graphics I had heard was
awesome.  Maybe my graphics card is not good enough to run the game in
higher resolution (I have P-II 400 with ATI Rage graphics card).  But,
back to my basic question.  All of your references to GPL Engine refer
to graphics and complexity of game play?

The GPL engine refers to the coding related to the dynamic performance of
the cars and the way they are expected behave according to input. Put
simply, it is the most sophisticated physical model yet to be used in a car
sim. It includes vertical dynamics (z axis) as well as the usual x, y axis.

Engine is just a generic term used to describe the physics required to be
incorporated in the core code.

your card is the problem, for some reason papy incorperated suport for only
two graphics chips rendition(which are good in gpl and thats about it) and
the all conquering 3dfx chips dont ask why they didnt support tnt etc but
eventually a patch was made available at the papy site www.papy.com which
may support your card and allow your card to work it is a generally awsome
game so buy it! its difficult so its not a pick up complete and put down
again and the engine is the physics engine which is truely amazing but all
the engines in gpl are cool (repco, ford etc! lol)

Generally speaking "GPL engine" describes the part of the program that
drives the "physics" of the simulation.  The way the car behaves and
reacts.  Regarding the graphics, your card will not come close to doing
them justice (this will basically require a Voodoo2 or Rendition 2xxx
based card).  Also, due to the poor frame rate your card is giving you,
GPL cars will be a *** to drive.  You need at least 30fps or better to
get a handle on the cars.
