Live for Speed ( www.liveforspeed.net )

Some say it's just a Gran Turrismo for a PC, Some say it's the sim to end
all sims.

One thing for sure -it has a very wierd community.

Well - they're obsessed with unrealistic slides, and all use the same
childish language more suited to Counterstrike than Sim Racing.

It just isnt your typical sim racing community - and I've NEVER seen such a
high density of people on yellow and red cards than the LFS forums at RSC

It is true, the community is quite weird... But that shouldn't take away
from the game. You can run closed servers with passwords, etc. AND you can
LAN the game up and use AI cars in the race to make it more interesting if
you don't have that many friends :)

Check out the latest LFS movie in bhmotorsports.com involving a real life
race car being developed by McGill university using LFS to help with their
car. I find it to be quite cool..

Wrong !!!!!!!

How can you say that !

As a true simer , I 'm offended.

I love GPL, and i love LFS.

The difference is that LFS ALSO attire child and drifter.

I dont like drift but it certainly require great driving skill.

That's also true, but , please, dont generalise the LFS community
because of some idiots.

Hehe... the long arm of the law (Judge Dredd, zero tolerance style) is quite
busy in that section ;)

But please put some perspective on it, it has improved by a huge margin the
last months.
Remember many of the LFS racers are kids used to e.g. CS forum flamewars as
their way of disscusing and communicating, how are they to understand the
way ***s communicate at a more serious scene, without a few f*ckups at
first.... They are learning and the whole LFS community is getting more
serious, better at handling differences and better at not going ballistic ;)

It's no different than NASCAR2003, if you are sick of being wrecked then
join a serious league.
The "Clean Racers Club" is a huge group of serious LFS racers, every bit as
dedicated to simracing as we GPL or NASCAR freaks.

Sounds good, I have to admit though that the LFS community *really* put me
off LFS and I ditched the demo because if I don't like, respect and enjoy
racing others in the community I'm not going to bother.

My brother however has been trying to get me to 'see the light' and join the
CRC and see the good side, which I might do once there is more than 1 track
to race.

1 question though, have race lengths improved much at all?

When I was racing LFS the average race length was 3 laps (The default?) and
I kid not when I say that the times I changed the race length on my server
to anything from 5 to 10 laps I would get inundated with complaints, flames
and requests to knock it back to 3 laps, in fact the 2 times I put it up to
10 laps I saw not one single racer connect. My hopes of long (30-40 lap),
strategic & consistent racing kinda died there.

Alan.
