MASCAR 2: No power - solved

by Mike Donnel » Sun, 29 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I had a most unusual problem with NASCAR2.  For some reason I was
several
seconds off the pace at Talladega with the default ACE setup.  This
really
troubled me as I figured that with the default settings (97% opps)I
should
be able to do well with even a default.  Low and behold I was reading a
few
articles here on RAS about some other problems when Jim Sokoloff
mentioned
something about 'short calibrating' the gas pedal.  This involved not
getting the gas *all* the way to the floor during calibration so that
as a
race progresses you don't tire yourself into getting off the gas.  This
struck a nerve.  I *did* calibrate the wheel.  That I knew for a fact,
but,
I hadn't remembered calibrating the pedals.  Once calibrated, we had
all
700+ horses.  Oh, and a pole and win the first time out.

Actually, I was advised to use stiffer shocks all the way around and
that did the trick at Talladega.  I went from several seconds off the
pace to the poll at 100%.
